Attorney Roger Knutson, City Prosecuting Attorney Katrina Joseph
Continued Discussion on a Vacant Building Ordinance
Council discussed with staff as well as City Attorney Roger Knutson and Prosecuting Attorney
Katrina Joseph the options the City would have in passing and enforcing a vacant building
ordinance. After much discussion, Council directed staff to bring forward at an upcoming
Council meeting the adoption of the International Property Maintenance Code into the City’s
Code of Ordinances. Council also directed staff, on the advice of both attorneys, to begin more
rigorous enforcement on chronic or repeat ordinance offenders.
Fire Study RFP
Fischer presented the updated Fire Study RFP to the Council. Council directed staff to send out
the RFP as soon as possible with a response deadline of April 20th
, 2012 at 4:30pm.
Special Events Ordinance
There was discussion regarding the creation of a special events ordinance in relation to a
request from business owners. The state fair grounds and events surrounding the use of the fair
grounds were discussed. Council directed staff to review this option and discuss at future
workshops.
Roofing Bids Discussion
Bids for the City Hall roofing project have been submitted. Council reviewed and had several
questions for staff regarding the bids. Council directed staff to provide answers prior to the next
Council meeting.
The workshop concluded at 8:15 p.m.
