HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCWkspMin 6-6-12Falcon Heights Council Workshop Minutes June 6, 2012 Members present: Mayor Lindstrom, Council Members Long, Harris, Gosline and Mercer-Taylor Members absent: Others present: City Administrator Bart Fischer, Public Works Director Tim Pittman LED Lighting Retro-Fit for City Decorative Light Fixtures Council and Staff heard a presentation from representatives from LightingHouse USA regarding retrofitting existing, ex terior City light fixtures with LED bulbs and the cost savings associated with this. Staff will provide a cost analysis in the future for further discussion. Installation of State Fair No Parking Signs Council and Staff discussed the pros and cons of installing permanent “No Parking During State Fair” signs versus annually erecting and removing temporary signs. The discussion revolved around placing permanent signs on an y existing sign poles, while still erecting temporary signs in areas where a permanent sign pole does not currently exist. Staff will provide an analysis on the number of permane nt versus temporary signs to be erected. Miscellaneous Discussion Items Council and Staff had brief discussion s relating to the following topics: -The upcoming approval of the Fire Study Co nsultant at the June 13, 2012 Regular City Council Meeting. -Rescheduling the July 4, 2012, Council Workshop to July 18, 2012. -Scheduling of a possible Council mission/vision/goal setting workshop. Staff will coordinate. -Scheduling a tour of TIES due to an invitati on from TIES represen tatives. Staff will coordinate. -Update on the Special Event Ordinance wh ich the Planning Commission will take action on at their June 26, 2012, Regular Meeting. -Discussion on a possible resident survey. Staff will follow up. -Students from Falcon Heights Elementary w ill be at the June 27, 2012, Regular City Council Meeting to present and ask for a pproval of a Tobacco Free Parks Ordinance.
