Council member Beth Mercer -Taylor Announced that Winterfest is Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 1pm -4pm at Community Park. New this year is dogsledding rides. Reported on her recent counci l liaison change from the Neighborhood Commission to the Environment Commission Reminded audience about the bulk solar panel purchasing and tax credit savings along with weatherizing your home program. Council member Chuck Long Provided update on HRC mee ting. Commission openings on Human Rights Commission . Reported on his recent council liaison addition to Parks and Recreation Commission. Council member Keith Gosline Provided NYFS u pdate. Mayor Peter Lindstrom Reported on the annual crime meeting with Lauderdale Mayor Jeff Dain and St. Anthony Mayor Jerry Faust and Chief Ohl. Chief Ohl met with the Falcon Heights PTA to present on school safety. T he discussion on gun violence that will be held on Tuesday, January 29 th , t he location changed from the Coff ee Grounds to the Falcon Heights City Hall , 2077 W. Larpenteur Ave . I. Item Approval of City License s Description The following individuals have applied for a Mechanical License for 2013 . Staff has received the necessary documents for licensure. 1. Drain Pro Plumbing , Inc. 2. Krinkie Heating & A/C Co. 3. South -Town Refrigeration The following individuals have applied for a Tree Trimming/Treating/Removal License for 2013 . Staff has received the necessary documents for licensure. 1. St. Croix Tree Service, Inc. 2. Precision Landscap e & Tree, Inc. 3. Branch and Bough Tree S e rvice and Landsca pes Care The following individuals have applied for a Refuse/Recycle License for 2013. Staff has received the necessary documents for licensure. 1. Item Acceptance of a FEMA Grant for Fire Department SCBA Equipment Desc ription Recently, the F ire Department applied for and was awarded a FEMA grant in the amount of $176,398.00 to cover the costs of new Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). The current SCBA equipment is close to 20 years old and is need of replacemen t. There is a matching component of this grant of about $8,819.00 which will be funded through internal equipment and capital funds. The Fire Department has worked hard over the past few years to receive this grant as they have applied a couple of times now and have finally received the dollars. Staff recommends acceptance of the FEMA grant for Fire Department SCBA equipment. Budget Impact The matching portion of the grant, which is about $8,819.00 , will be funded out of existing equipment and capital f unds. Att achment(s) N/A Action(s) Requested Staff recommends that the Falcon Heights City Council accept the FEMA grant for Fire Department SCBA equipment and authorize the Mayor and appropriate City Staff to execute any associated documents and administ er the grant.
