APPROVAL OF MINUTES: February 26, 2014 APPROVED E. PUBLIC HEARINGS: F. CONSENT AGENDA: Chuck Long Moved, Approval 5-0 1. General Disbursements through 3/7/2014: $176,439.35 Payroll through 2/28/2014: $15,756.66 2. Approval of City Licenses 3. Approve Payment #6 to T.A. Schifsky & Sons, Inc. for the 2013 Pavement Management Project 4. Call for Public Hearing on Mounds Park Academy Project Conduit Financing Bonds G: POLICY ITEMS: 1. Bell Museum Letter and Resolution of Support Beth Mercer-Taylor Moved, Approval 5-0 -Susan Weller, Steve Birke, and Tim McDevitt provided an update on the proposed Bell Museum in Falcon Heights. They also answered questions from Council. 2. Garage Setback and Area Variances at 1403 Hoyt Avenue Chuck Long Moved, Approval 5-0 -City Administrator Bart Fischer provided the staff report and answered questions from Council. The applicant, Phil Behrens, provided additional information and answered questions as well. H. INFORMATION/ANNOUNCEMENTS: Council Member Beth Mercer-Taylor -Announced that the March 10th Environment Commission meeting was canceled. Council Member Pam Harris -Updated Council on the February 25th Planning Commission meeting. Council Member Chuck Long -Updated council on the February 10th Parks & Recreation Commission meeting and the draft Park Improvement Study that will be presented to Council at an upcoming meeting. Council Member Keith Gosline -Provided an update on the recent NYFS activities. Mayor Peter Lindstrom -Announced the upcoming presentation on March 24th from State Fair General Manager Jerry Hammer, to be held at Falcon Heights City Hall at 7pm. -Announced that there are a few spots remaining for the upcoming growing season in the Falcon Heights Community Garden. -Thanked Falcon Heights Public Works and St. Paul Regional Water Service crews for the recent water main break repairs. S&S Tree & Horticultural Specialists The following individuals have applied for a Municipal Business License for 2014. Staff has received the necessary documents for licensure. 1. The Art, LLC 2. Item Resolution Proclaiming National Donate Life Month Description I recommend the month of April 2014 to be recognized as National Donate Life Month to promote organ, eye, and tissue donation in the City of Falcon Heights. Meeting Date March 26, 2014 Agenda Item Policy G1 Title National Donate Life Month Submitted By Mayor Peter Lindstrom Families, Fields and Fair __________________________ CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS COUNCIL RESOLUTION March 26, 2013 No. 14-06 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Resolution Proclaiming National Donate Life Month WHEREAS, April is considered National Donate Life Month; and WHEREAS, Organ, eye and tissue donation is a gift which extends hope and healing to those in need; and WHEREAS, Nearly 115,000 Americans and approximately 3,000 people in Minnesota are waiting for a life-saving transplant; and WHEREAS, There is a serious shortage of transplantable organs in the United States, resulting in only 28,000 transplants and nearly 6,000 preventable deaths each year; and WHEREAS, One organ, eye and tissue donor can save or improve the lives of up to sixty People; and WHEREAS, Minnesota is a leader in registered organ, eye and tissue donors. Any person of any age can become a donor by indicating their preference on their state ID or by registering on-line through either Donate Life Minnesota or Lifesource, one of America's Leading organ procurement organization.
