City of Falcon Heights
Planning Commission Minutes
October 28, 2014
PRESENT: Commissioners Alexander, Black, Gustafson, Murphy, Wartick, Williams,
Council Member Harris, Staff Liaison Petersen,
ABSENT: Commissioner Fite (with notice)
The meeting was called to order at 7:04 p.m. by the Chair, Commissioner Black, who noted
that a quorum was present. The minutes of the August 26, 2014 meeting of the Planning
Commission were approved.
Presentation by University of Minnesota Students on the Upcoming Sustainability Fair
Four University Students presented information on the Sustainability Fair on November 20,
2014 from 5:30-8pm at Silverwood Park in St. Anthony Village. The fair is part of a capstone
project for each of the students’ Sustainability Minor. Each student is in a group that focuses
on a specific topic including water use, transportation, energy efficiency, etc. Groups are
focusing their projects on the cities of Lauderdale, St. Anthony Village, and Falcon Heights,
and findings and suggestions will be presented at the Sustainability Fair.
Information and Announcements:
Gustafson announced the last few days of the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Fright Farm are
coming up this weekend. The fair is located at the Ramsey County Fairgrounds in
Maplewood and will be open Thursday and Friday (10/30 and 10/31) from 7-11pm.
Petersen announced the TechDump electronics recycling event that will be held at City Hall
on Saturday (11/1) from 9am-1pm. The event is free and open to the public.
Harris announced that next Tuesday, November 4th is election day and that voting in Falcon
Heights will take place at City Hall for those west of Snelling Ave, and at United Church of
Christ for those east of Snelling.
