1) Discussion on future staffing/personnel matters
Council and staff had a discussion regarding how to restructure the Fire Department
after the resignation of the Regular Part-Time Chief. Discussion was also had on
how to fill the recently vacated positions in Administration. Finally, discussion was
had on Public Works employee compensation levels.
2) Review of Assessment Policy and update on 2015 Street Project.
Staff presented to Council that sidewalks and trails are part of the assessment policy
but that recent repairs done by the Public Works Department to sidewalks were not
assessed to homeowners so consideration regarding residential assessments for the
possible upcoming Roselawn trail replacement should be considered. Also, at the
direction of the City Engineer, it was suggested that the City Council consider
capping the residential assessments for the long side of corner lots at 200 feet for this
project.
3) Update on possible changes to City Commissions
Council continued to discuss the possibility of combining the Human Rights and
Neighborhood Commissions into the Community Engagement Commission.
4) Brainstorming on ideas for the 2015 Good Neighbor fund
Council discussed possible projects to submit for the 2015 Good Neighbor Fund
grant round through the U of M.
The workshop concluded at 8:05 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Bart Fischer
City Administrator
