Planning Commission Minutes
Tuesday, September 26, 2017
Present: Commissioners Larkin, Sunderland, Murphy, Samatar, Stemper, Kotelnicki
Council Liaison Harris, Staff Liaison Moretto
Absent: Williams
The meeting was called to order by Commission Chair Larkin at 7:00 pm.
The minutes of July 25, 2017 meeting of the Planning Commission were approved
AGENDA:
Discussion – 2040 Comprehensive Planning
Chair Larkin offered the floor to Paul Moretto to introduce the
Comprehensive Planning process.
The question of the Planning Commission’s roll in the drafting of the
comprehensive plan was discussed.
Suggestion put forward that sub committees could be formed to develop
working groups to develop sections of the plan. The group would work
with the chosen plan consultant.
Commissioner Kotelnicki asked Staff Liaison Moretto about the bidding
process of the proposal for Professional Services for updating and
researching the 2040 Comprehensive Plan.
WSB has been identified as a possible consultant choice. A bid from WSB
was introduced for review.
No other companies submitted bids for Comprehensive Plan consultation.
Staff Moretto introduced the idea of collaborating with Roseville city
planners to exchange information and share resources.
The roll of other Falcon Heights city commissions and the non-profits
University of Minnesota and the Minnesota State Fair were discussed in
the planning process.
Council Liaison Harris suggested that the Comprehensive Planning
process is the opportunity to ask the bigger planning questions.
INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
Commissioner Samatar introduced apparent issues concerning the Town Square
apartment complex on Larpenteur and Snelling. The issues were noted and
taken under advisement.
