Call to Order: 7:06 p.m.
Members Present: Commission Chair Melanie Leehy; Commissioners Jay Colond, Dick
Carlson, Gwen Willems, Shirley Reider; SAPD Liaison Chief John Ohl, Council Liaison
Mayor Peter Lindstrom, Staff Liaison Tim Sandvik, Staff Liaison Katie Thrasher
Members Absent: Commissioners Felicia Turner, Ahmed Hassan, Clem Kurhajetz,
Gary Kwong, FHFD Liaison Anton Fehrenbach
1) Review and Approval of Minutes from October 19, 2015
Shirley moves, Gwen seconds Approved
2) Plan Human Rights Day Event - December 10: starting at 6pm
a. Guest: Human Rights Commissioner Kevin Lindsey allotted 15 min intro
b. Movie selection: Trail of Tears starts at 6:20pm
c. Discussion Format: Google poll voting via an email to all commissioners
d. Refreshments: Cookies, cider, coffee
e. Publicity: Flyers at businesses
- FH United Church of Christ, Como Park Lutheran off Hoyt (Dick),
Postcard size (Gwen), Library and Co-op off Raymond (Shirley),
Apartments (Melanie)
3) Plan Annual CEC Gathering – January 25
a. Format
- 6:45pm refreshments, 7pm welcome
- Split into quadrants of city and non-residents: ice breaker questions
- Report from departments: 5 minutes per dept. and 10 minutes for Sack
- 20 minutes to Commissioner Lindsey
- Done by 8:10
b. Presenters- Sack, Chief John Ohl, Fire Department
c. Refreshments- Cookies, cider, coffee
d. Door Prizes
- FH Water bottles, shirts, fireman hats (ask fire dept. if they’re available)
e. Items to have for gathering: name tags, registration sheet with number in
front- use the number for a drawing for door prizes
4) Preview of 2016 Goals
- Table agenda item and watch for December emails, we will discuss at
February meeting. Maybe having annual gathering in March? Spring together
potentially April or May?
5) House Keeping Items
- Coffee with a Cop at Town Square with Sgt. Mangeth (details to follow if we
could reach out to a Somali interpreter)
- SAPD, Roseville, Maplewood Officers police chief panel for MN League of
Women Voters: Tuesday Grumpys dinner at 5:30pm, panel starts at 6:30pm
- Open House for Curtiss Field here at City Hall Wednesday 5:30-6:30pm
6) Meeting Schedule & Adjourn
- February 15th, next meeting- presidents day- might need to be rescheduled
