A: CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Commission Chair Larkin at
7:00 pm.
B: ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioners: Larkin, Stemper, Kotelnicki, Williams
Staff Liaison: Thongvanh
Council Liaison: Miazga
Absent: Samatar, Murphy, Sunderland
C. APPROVAL OF MINUTES for March 27rd, 2018
Minutes were approved by unanimous consent
D. AGENDA
1. WBS Update
a. Representatives from WBS presented information on two components of
the 2040 Comprehensive Plan requiring updates. Under the caption of
Goals, Land Use and Redevelopment the commission was provided with
an opportunity to dialogue concerning these topic areas and engage
discussion concerning these updated areas of the Comp Plan.
b. Areas focused on in zoning map: Bell Museum, Ramsey County
Historical Society Spire Credit Union Site, City of Falcon Heights lot and
bldg, etc. referenced in 2008 Comp Plan map and zoning designations.
c. Discussion of Falcon Heights City Values Statements in particular the
Guiding Values statements presented for discussion and potential change.
Commission Chair Larkin objected to the viability of preserving the Urban
Rural character as well as building connections along the Snelling
Larpenteur corridors. Discussion followed.
d. Discussion of Values Statements: Housing and Neighborhood,
preserving and enhancing quality, appearance and maintenance of existing
housing in Falcon Heights.
e. Discussion of Values Statements: The Larpenteur and Snelling
Corridors.
f. Discussion of Values Statements: Highway and Roadway.
g. Discussion of Value Statements: Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan.
h. Discussion of Value Statements Public Transit.
i. Discussion of Value Statements Aviation.
E. INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
An update on the Fire Marshall requirement to provide an additional fire hydrant
to the Hendrickson project approval has been removed.
