Minutes - Planning Commission
Tuesday, February 27, 2018
7:00 p.m.
A: CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Commission Vice Chair
Stemper at 7:00 pm.
B: ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioners: Sunderland, Samatar, Stemper, Williams, Murphy,
Kotelnicki
Staff Liaison: Moretto
Council Liaison: Miazga
Absent: Larkin
C: APPROVAL OF MINUTES.
The minutes of January 23, 2018 meeting of the Planning Commission were
approved.
D: AGENDA:
1. Review of February 26th Comp Plan Meeting and Next Steps.
a. Commissioner Stemper invited Staff Laiaison Moretto to discuss the
Comp Plan open house that took place on Monday February 26, 2018 at the
Falcon Heights City Hall and hosted by the consulting firm WSB. Over 40
people attended and offered usable feedback for WSB in the areas of interest.
Moretto suggested the format of the open house is replicatable and if the
commission wanted to host additional open house forums that should be
considered by the commission sooner than later.
Many of the metrics captured at the open house forum will be analyzed for
both qualitative and quantitative data that will drive the analysis of the Comp
Plan Update process.
There will be a joint meeting of the planning commission and Falcon Heights
City Counsel sometime around March 21st to discuss the Comp Plan and
provide draft language for updates to the Comp Plan.
b. Counsel member Miazga asked if there would be opportunities for those
that expressed interest in contributing ideas to the Comp Plan updates.

c. Commisioner Kotelnicki asked how the data gathered would be used and
compiled and offered his opinion that he thought the turnout was successful.
d. Commissioner Sunderland noted that some community members who
attended the open house forum and who had worked on the 2030 Comp Plan
in the past may be interested in providing feedback and support in the 2040
Comp Plan how can they contribute. Community members should attend
future open houses and/or contact Staff Liaison Moretto.
E: INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Workshop Session – Hendrickson Update followed the regular Tuesday February
27rd commission meeting.
