Falcon Heights Environment Commission October 10, 2016 6:30 p.m. Meeting Minutes Present: Chair Miazga, Staff Liaison Moretto, Mayor Lindstrom, Commissioners Hall, and Holmes. 1) Approval of Minutes Approval of the Minutes from the July and September 2016 meeting of the Environmental Commission was approved. 2) News and Announcements Mayor Lindstrom – SolSmart passed. National program which is Department of Energy solar foundation. Helps with soft costs of solar like permit issues or anything outside the panels. LoGoPEP approved by Council 3) Presentation by Julie Drennen – Conservation Corps East Metro Provides guidance and advices cities on subjects relating to environmental issues such a SCORE grants, Solar, and many others. Also connects cities with other cities. She wants to connect Falcon Heights with other communities to demonstrate our success with roof solar at city hall. She can help Falcon Heights with our sustainable objectives through communication and marketing. Staff Liaison will coordinate a solar panel visit. 4) Score Grant Application due soon. Staff Liaison will be meeting with Jean Buckley to discuss final action plan. We will also discuss organics. 5) Pollinator Resolution Example Resolution usually recommendations. Chair Miazga will draw-up a draft. Commissioner Holms left at 7:30. 6) Blue Star We might want to talk to Master Water Stewards, Green Core members, Capital Water Dist, Ramsey Cons. Board. 7) LoGoPEP Partner Cities Staff Liaison watched the LoGoPEP meeting. Wedge tool will be developed. Question will be brought back to the Commission for discussion. 8) Public Comment No public comments were provided.
