Falcon Heights Environment Commission February 13, 2017 6:30 p.m. Meeting Minutes Present: Chair Miazga, Secretary Olson, Staff Liaison Moretto, Mayor Lindstrom, and Commissioner Wasserman. 1) Approval of Minutes The Minutes from the November 2016 meeting of the Environmental Commission were approved. 2) Presentation-Comprehensive Surface Water Management Plan Update Ryan Johnson, Environmental Specialist from the City of Roseville, gave an updated presentation on the draft Surface Water Management Plan (CSWMP). The biggest changes from the previous draft were the storm name changes and a section on the policies and goals. The current plan must be revised because of Minnesota Rules. This next version of the plan is due by December 31, 2018. 3) News and Announcements Mayor Lindstrom discussed St. Paul water utility bills. St. Paul is able to tell you if you have a lead pipe leading to your house (but not inside). Green Steps four and five matrices have come back. Public Works will assist with the completion. The City will receive either a pallet of milkweed sprouts or seeds. There will be more information to come. 4) Pollinator Resolution There has not been an opportunity to bring to a Council workshop. This is still on the radar. 5) Recycling Report 2016 The raw data from 2016 is now available. A summary will be provided at the next Environmental Commission meeting. 6) Citizen Utility Board- Mayor Lindstrom There is a non-profit group whose goal is to encourage consumer activism in regards to utility bills. This group hosts utility bill clinics and give presentations. They can recommend programs and rebates. Commission motioned to recommend Council approve the City’s participation in the Citizen Utility Board. 7) Public Comment No public comments were provided.
