Falcon Heights Environment Commission
May 8th, 2017

Meeting Minutes
Present: Chair Miazga, Staff Liaison Moretto, Mayor Lindstrom, and Commissioner
Meah, Holmes, Hartman, Hall.
1) Approval of Minutes – April Minutes tabled.
2) Discussion – Gardens in Falcon Heights
Staff discussed the various issues regarding gardens and the types of ground
cover in Falcon Heights. There was discussion about the appropriateness of the
Environmental Commission in the planning aspects of gardens and zoning.
A question of native plans and grass was also discussed. Commissioners
discussed the history of plantings and front yard spaces and further discussion is
required.
A final topic of discussion was vacant houses in Falcon Heights and our
ordinances. It was discussed that we do not require vacant properties to be recorded.
The Environmental Commission motioned and recommended that staff look into
this topic for next meeting.
