Consideration of a variance request to allow housing in a B-2 zoning area located at 1750 W. Larpenteur Ave. Administrator Worthington explained that Don Hermes of Hermes Floral requested a variance in the zoning code in order to allow housing on his property at 1750 W. Larpenteur which is zoned B-2, limited business. Worthington said state statute prohibits the granting of a variance unless the owner can show that a hardship exists and denial of such a variance would not substantially diminish or impair property values or improvements in the area. After discussion, a motion to adopt resolution 00-17 denying the granting of a use variance was made by councilmember Kuettel.
