Call to Order Ron – called the meeting to order, serving the meeting as Chair. 2. Approval of April 2nd, 2018 Minutes Alyssa, Ron – Approved 3. Grant Updates a. Piano in the Park – “Play Your Part” – brief overview by staff. The Piano will be in the park the second week of June and will be removed in early July. Typically they last about 30 days, if we have good weather, may last until Ice Cream Social. Staff thanked commissioners for their help on this project. b. Curtiss Signage – Staff updated the commission that signage was installed in time for the Spring Together event in early May. They were welcomed by those in attendance. Again, staff thanked the commission for their work on this project. c. Upcoming Opportunities – Staff noted there are upcoming opportunities for grant funding. Specifically, staff would like to apply to a Target Corporate grant for soccer opportunities at Curtiss Field. Ron motioned, Alyssa seconded, passed unanimously to send application to council. d. 4. Comprehensive Plan Staff provided an outline of the process, asked for input from Commissioners. Commissioners stated its important to provide input to the Planning Commission. Recommendations include connectivity and safe routes, continuing to explore opportunities outlined in the Parks Master Plan created in 2014. Council Member Leehy – provided updates and insight on the Comp Plan. 5. Special Events a. Ice Cream Social/Hot Dog with a Deputy – Staff noted Parks Commissioners are welcome and encouraged to attend the annual summer event – July 19, 5-7. This year we will join with Ramsey County Sheriff’s office for Hot Dog with a Deputy. Restoration day – Unity Day - Council Member Leehy informed the Commission on the upcoming proclamation regarding Restoration Day and Unity. Please follow city communications, including council agenda packets for more information. 6. Updates a. Summer Programming, Staffing – Staff let the commission know we are fully staffed, training occurred this past weekend. Programming will run for six weeks starting June 10. We are up in total numbers, we will have updates/final numbers at the August meeting. b. Infrastructure – Short-term/Long Range Planning, Community Park – Staff noted the Comp Plan is an excellent time to highlight opportunities regarding long-range planning. Commissioners asked about providing more updates at the August meeting for the Comp Plan. 7. Other Business a. Council Member Leehy b. Commissioners 8.
