August 20th, 2018
• It is supposed to be October 15, 2018 minutes and not August 20, 2018.
• The speaker from Housing Justice Center is Tim Thompson and not Lael Robertson.

D. DISCUSSION
1. CEC Updates: Appointment of Vice Chair
• Shirley is the Chair for CEC and her term will end in 2020. She would
like to appoint Kim Johnson as the Vice Chair. In 2019, Shirley will
mentor Kim.

2. Human Rights Day Event – December 10th, 2018
• City Staff will set up at Falcon Heights United Church of Christ. City will
provide cookies, coffee, and water.
• Since we do not want audience to be on their phone to submit questions,
we will provide note cards and pens. City Staff will continue to ask
residents and guests to submit questions via social media, and weekly
newsletters. Those questions will be used at the event and members are
encouraged to ask questions to bring in more engagement.
3. Neighborhood Liaison Packets

• CEC request staff to meet with City Administrator if the Neighborhood
Liaison Packets should include Kris Grangaard, CERTs main contact
person as another resource.
• Packet should continue to be reviewed yearly
• Packet will not make it in time to use the St. Paul Foundation grant to
print copies but can put it on the website.
• City Staffed received the list of Neighborhood Liaisons list and will have
check if they still live in Falcon Heights.
4. Updates on Youth Outreach Opportunities
• City Staff met with Jobcorps who can be a good organization to
collaborate as they focus on career developments for students and adults.
Staff also met with Ramsey County Work Solution in North St. Paul, and
they would like to collaborate in the future. Ramsey County Work
Solution’s goal is to partner with all Ramsey County cities and be a
resource to youth.
• City Staff reconnected with 4-H who suggested that Falcon Heights can
create their 4-H club or weekend event for youth such as; Learn how to
dress for interview, mock interviews, learn how to write resumes and
cover letters, have Public Works teach youth about public maintenance,
mentorship day, and basic cooking and fixing cars.
