C. Presentation:
1. Ramsey Census 2020 – Barbara Baraney and Kim Johnson
• Barbara Barany, Kim Johnson, Justin Markon attended the Ramsey County Census 2020
and were split into groups.
• Kim - Renters
• Justin – Business
• Barbara - Education.
• The purpose is to get a complete count in Falcon Heights.
• The new process is to start with electronic, mailing and door knocking.
• Census 2020 job is now open, and citizens can apply. Staff will discuss with Justin and
City Administrator when to put the link on social media and website.
• Does Falcon Heights need a subgroup? Staff Liaison will communicate with Justin and
City Administrator.
• Barbara Barany will email information to Staff Liaison who will send it to CEC.
• Census 2020 begins April 1st, 2020.

E. DISCUSSION
1. 2018 Recap
• Spring Together, Ice Cream Social and Hot Dog with a Deputy, and Human Rights
Day were successful events but can need improvement on communication and
advertising.
• Rough start on communication but it has improved such as E-news layout, website,
and social media.
• CEC appointed Kim Johnson as Vice Chair.
• Staff Liaison connected with three organizations about youth programs.
• Neighborhood Liaison Packet and Welcoming Packet improved significantly and
will continue to revise them.
2. 2019 Goals
• Continue to build trust with residents and the community.
• Start learning about Census 2020 and will educate residents at city events.
• Start connecting with Neighborhood Liaisons, update the list, appreciation event,
and create a liaison map.
• Rick will meet with Kris to learn about Neighborhood Liaison.
• Focus on “Cultivating a Caring Community” – City will host community events and
training throughout the year, and CEC’s role is to help promote the event to
residents.
3. Special Event
a. Spring Together
CEC would like to move Spring Together to June 8 so it does not
interfere with Mother’s Day, Ramadan, school events, and
surrounding cities events.
Staff will work on fliers and will present it on the next meeting.
