Councilmember Black arrived at 7:50 p.m. Councilmeanber McGough moved, seconded by Councilm~nber Brown to CONSENT AGTNDA approve the Consent Agenda as presented. Upon a vote being talon the following voted ~~aye~~ : Mayor Warkentien, Councz~.meanbers McGongh, Steele and Brown, and the following voted ~~nay~~ : ~No~e, Motion- carried. 1. Sheriff ~ s Reports Deceanber, 1978 CounciLneunber Steele moved, second®d by Councilmember Browp, to MINUTES OF approve the minutes of January 10, 1979 as corrected. Upon a vote JANUARY 10, 197 being 'taken the following voted ~~ aye~~ : Mayor Warkentien, council- A1?~'ROVED members McGough, Steele and Brown, and the following voted'~nay~~; None:; Motion carried. Counc~~.member McGough presented to Council the following iufo2~nation: POLICING DISCUSSION (a.) The proposed costs for joint police and fire pratec~ion with the City of Lauderdale. A full report is on file with the C~.erk Administrator. (b) ;Th® Ramsey County Board Meeting was attended by Mayer Warkentien, Councilmember McGough and Clerk Administrator Barnes, at which time the 1979 Ramsey County Shara.f~~s Department Policing Contract with Falcon Heights was approved. They also toured the new jail facility,on;January 23. (c) Cquncilman McGough and Clerk Administrator Barnes attend®d the Mayor's Meeting held January 23, 1979 at North C$aks Gauntry Club. The meeting was in regard to Ramse3r County Policing matters for contractual services. (d) He will compile information and report back to Council regarding the "Reward Systam° as an aid in apprehending criminals. ~~ MINUTES REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 2~, 1979 Page 2 Councilmember Black arrived during this discussion at approximately COUNCILMEMBER 7:50 p.m. BLACK ARRIVES Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Councilmember Brown to POLICING (cont.) authorize the Mayor and Councilmember McGough to present to the Lauderdale Council the proposed joint policing contract for the Lauderdale Council's consideration. Motion carried unanimously. Clerk Administrator Barnes presented to Council plans for the HERMES FIARAL Hermes Floral expansion which is now in progress. 1750 LARD. A discussion was held regarding the lights which have been turned LIGHTS ON off on th® County Roads. Council and the Clerk Administrator will COUNTY ROADS meet at 6:15 February 11~, 1979, prior to the council meeting, and inspect the lighting situation. Clerk Administrator Barnes reported on the Section 8 Housing and SECTION 8 informed Council of the amount of reimbursement to date. The HOUSING balance still due has been submitted to Metro HRA by Erma Olson, HRA Specialist. -} Councilmeanber McGough sugg®ated that the Councilmeaabers should COUNCIL SALARIES have an increase in salary. After some discussion it was decided DEFERRED TO to defer the matter until September. SEPTEMBER, 1979 Mayor Warkentien read a letter from the St. Paul Water Department WATER GATE VALVE stating they feel a water gate is needed on the hydrant at Ruggles RuGGLES & SHELL and Snelling. Councilmember McGough moved, seconded by Council- memiber Steele, to reject the proposal for a water gate at Ruggles and Snelling. Motion carried unanimously. Mayor Warkentien presented a letter from the League of Minnesota Cities stating that the week of February 26 - March 2, 1979 will be Minnesota Cities Week, and asking the City of Falcon Heights to adopt a resolution of participation. Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilmember to adopt Resolution 79-7. ' RESOLUTION 79-? RESOLUTION 79-7 MINN. CITIES A RESOLUTION OF PARTICIPATION IN MINNESOTA CITIES WEEK WEEK Upon a vote being taken the following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, CounciLaeanbers Black, McGough, Steele and Brown, and the following voted "nay": None. Motion carried unanimously;. A discussion as held regarding maintenance at the liquor store. (HUD) GRANT Motion carried unanimously. Some discussion was held regarding possible sale of advertising NEWSLETTER in the City Newsletter.
