REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 25, 1998
Mayor Gehrz convened the meeting at 7:00 p.m.
PRESENT
Gehrz, Hustad, Jacobs and Hoyt
ABSENT
Gibson Talbot and Kuettel
COMMUNITY FORUM
There was no one wishing to take advantage of the community forum.
MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 4, 1998
Minutes were approved by unanimous consent.
• CONSENT AGENDA
Councilmember Jacobs moved approval of the following consent agenda.
The motion passed unanimously.
1. Disbursements
2. Licenses
3. Appointments to the Fire Department
4. Change the fixed asset capitalization level from 5500 to 51000
5. Amend the 1998 Special Revenue Park Programs Fund
6. Decrease the projected capital costs for the NE Quadrant Street
Improvements in the 1999 capital budget
7. Appointment to the Park and Recreation Commission
8. Cancellation of December 9, 1998 council meeting and scheduling a
December 16, 1998 council meeting
POLICY AGENDA
REVIEW OF SALARY FOR MAYOR'S POSITION
Mayor Gehrz explained that the councilmembers wanted to review the
• mayor's salary. Councilmember Jacobs explained that the mayor puts in at
least a third more time at than councilmembers do serving the city; therefore

he would like to see the salary raised to 5450 per month as of January,
2000. Councilmember Jacobs said the two absent councilmembers had
discussed the mayoral salary at a city workshop and were comfortable with
it at that earlier meeting. Councilmember Hustad moved to approve the
salary increase for the mayor's position. Mayor Gehrz concurred that she did
spend more time as mayor than as she had as a Councilmember prior to being
elected mayor. However, she explained that she was voting against the
motion because the salary increase would apply to her if she won re-election
for another four year term starting in 2000. The motion passed with
Councilmember Hustad and Jacobs in favor. Gehrz opposed.
UPDATE ON 1998 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
The city administrator reviewed the action items and accomplishments for
the council.
UPDATE ON PROPOSED CHANGE TO THE CITY'S LIQUOR ORDINANCE
Mayor Gehrz updated the council on the meeting held with liquor licensees
• regarding the proposed changes in the city's liquor ordinance. She explained
that more work will be done on this.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
