City Council Meeting

August 12, 1998
Mayor Gehrz called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
PRESENT
Gehrz, Hustad, Jacobs and Kuettel. Also present was Hoyt and city attorney
Knutson. Councilmember Gibson Talbot arrived at 6:40 P.M.
MINUTES OF JULY 29, 1998
Minutes were approved by unanimous consent with a correction that the
"city" not the "university" was making the 3D CAD display of the soccer
facilities.
CONSENT AGENDA APPROVED
Councilmember Kuettel moved aproval of the following consent agenda. The
motion passed unanimously.
1. Disbursements and Payroll
2. Compensation increase for the city administrator
3. Approval of change order #5 with North Metro Landscaping
UPDATE ON THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA WOMEN'S
INTERCOLLEGIATE SOCCER STADIUM
Mayor Gehrz updated the council on intergovernmental cooperation on
finding an alternate site for the stadium in conjunction with youth soccer
fields.
City Attorney Roger Knutson updated councilmembers on the most recent
response from the University of Minnesota to the city's covenants which the
university did not fully accept the city's covenants. Of particular note was
the lack of limitations on the number of games on the competition field. The
city is now waiting for the university's response. The council directed the
city attorney to continue to request the university to honor the four

covenants that were originally proposed by the city because these covenants
represent the promises that university officials made on a number of
occasions. Council indicated the Site Design Task Force meeting would not
meet until the covenants were approved.

The meeting adjourned at 6:45 P.M.
