1. Approval of July 6, 2020 minutes.
E. AGENDA:
1. Community Garden Questions
• Commissioners and staff discussed possible questions to include in survey
regarding garden expansion. There are currently 29 plots at the garden.
According to the Public Works Director the garden only has the capability to
expand by 9 more plots.
• Commissioners created survey questions that will be posted online and in the
Fall newsletter. The intent of the questions are to gain feedback about the
demand of more garden plots in the community.
• The survey will be released to the public after the garden survey from the
garden subcommittee has concluded to avoid confusion.
F. INFORMATION/ANNOUNCEMENT
• Walt Dunlap has resigned from the Parks Commission.
• The September Parks Commission meeting has been cancelled due to Labor Day.
• Next meeting is scheduled for October 5th. Commission will discuss survey
results and begin discussing the street-scape plan.

Item Community Garden Survey Results
Descriptions Community Garden located at Community Park has 29 plots. All the plots are
reserved for the summer by new and returning gardeners. Over the last couple of
years there has been an increase of individuals the waitlist. Most of the gardeners
are returning each year. This does not allow those on the waitlist to rent a garden
plot.
Returning gardeners are given priority each year to renew their plot rental. If
returning gardeners do not wish to renew their rental then the application process
is open to Falcon Heights residents. If there are remaining plots after the given
deadline to Falcon Heights residents, then the plots can be rented by anyone in
surrounding communities. Surrounding communities include St. Paul, Roseville
and Lauderdale.
At the July 6th Parks Commission Meeting, the commission agreed that the garden
should be expanded. The overall consensus was to expand the garden by 10 plots.
There was also further discussion about gaining community feedback before the
garden expansion in order to see if the demand is higher than expected.
At the August 3rd Parks Commission Meeting, the commission brainstormed
survey questions that would go out to current gardeners and the community. The
results of the survey will be shared with the commission.

The City That Soars!
Item Winter Activities
Descriptions Winter is quickly approaching and with the ongoing pandemic it will be difficult to
participate in events that have taken place in the past. The City is looking to
provide outdoor options for the community that will provide an outlet of leisurely
activities.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, the warming house will not be returning for the 2020-
2021 skating season. The City will provide picnic tables and park benches at
Curtiss Field for skaters to change in and out of their skates. The City will not be
hiring a Rink Attendant due physical distancing. Safe skating guidelines will be
placed around rinks to encourage safe practices. If it snows, Public Works will
plow all City streets and then shovel the rinks as time/weather permits.
Other potential items to discuss include plowing the snow on Community Park
trail, operation of lights at Curtiss Field without a rink attendant, and the schedule
of setting up the ice rink.
