MINUTES
A. CALL TO ORDER: Chair Wassenberg called the meeting to order at 6:41 p.m.
B. ROLL CALL:
Members present: Bucholtz, De Filippo Vannucci, Wassenberg, and Olson
Also present: Council Liaison Andrews, Staff Liaison Markon
Members absent: Mathwig, Seth, McCleery
C. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: July 13, 2020
Olson moved, seconded by Bucholtz to approve minutes for July 13, 2020.
D. AGENDA
a. Discuss beekeeping ordinance
i. Liaison Markon rewrote the 2012 ordinance based on the discussion with Gary from the University of Minnesota and the Commission discussed the changes. Topics of discussion included: 1. Bees must be kept behind back wall of the house. 2. Beekeeper must ensure establishment and maintenance of a barrier
unless such a barrier already exists. 3. Permit can be revoked if a site investigation finds a violation or multiple complaints have been made. Inspections will take place every other year. ii. The next step for this ordinance is review at the council workshop and
potentially review from the Planning Commission. During the September meeting, the Commission will discuss final changes and the next step will be public comments.
E. NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
a. Shredding event at Roseville City Hall – Sat, Sept 12 – 9:00 am – 12:00 pm i. The Environment Commission participated in this event with Roseville last year, but it has not been determined whether this event is happening
again this year.
b. The Commission discussed the possibility of applying for funds from the Volkswagen settlement to install an EV charging station in the city. The Commission members will brainstorm sites to bring to the next meeting. c. The next meeting will be moved to Tuesday, September 15 due to a double
booking.
