JULY 18, 1977 A special meeting of the Falcon Heights City Council was called to order by Mayor Warkentien at 5:30 p.m. Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Steele and Labalestra. Also present were Clerk Administrator Barnes and Engineer Lemberg. Councilman Ecklund • ~ 70 PRESENT ABSENT Engineer Lemberg submitted the tabulation of Bids for the Street BID AWARD AND and Alley Curb and Gutter construction for Hollywood Court which RESOLUTION also included Idaho Curb and Gutter from Arona to Pascal. Co . ............... 56,469.30 Ashback Const. Co ...................... 56,591.00 Alexander Const ........................ 56,949.00 Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilman Steele to table the awarding of Bids until the meeting of July 28, 1977. After discussion Councilman Steele withdrew his second and Mayor Warkentien withdrew his motion. Mayor Warkentien introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption. RESOLUTION 77-19 A RESOLUTION AWARDING THE HOLLYWOOD COURT STREET AND ALLEY IMPROVEMENT, INCLUDING IDAHO CURB AND GUTTER FROM ARONA TO PASCAL TO C. S. McCROSSAN, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $51,730.00 The motion for the adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by Councilman Steele and upon a vote being taken the following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Steele and Labalestra, and the following voted "nay": None. Councilman Ecklund: Absent. Motion carried. RESOLUTION 77-19 HOLLYWOOD COURT - IDAHO STREET CURB & GUTTER IMPROVEMENT The variance request of Charles Skweres, 1422 Larpenteur was CHAS. SKWERES presented to Council by Councilman Black. The variance requested 1422 LARPENTEUR was to locate a double garage one foot from the west lot line and VARIANCE REQUEST south lot line, MINUTES SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING JULY 18, 1977 page 2 The Planning Commission at their regular meeting of July 11, 1977 unanimously recommended approval of the variance request. Councilman Black. moved, seconded by Councilman Labalestra to approve the variance request. Upon a vote being taken, the following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Steele and Labalestra. The following voted "nay": None. Absent: Councilman Ecklund. Motion carried. Mr. James Sinclair of the Minnesota State Fair submitted a request to Council to permit the removal of the posts in the Larpenteur Avenue median at the Fairgrounds north entry on July 21 thru 24th and July 29 thru 31st to permit two way traffic on those dates during the N.S.E.A. Street Rod Nationals event being held on the fairgrounds. Councilman Steele moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien to request Ramsey County to remove the posts as requested to permit two way traffic. Upon a vote being taken, the following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Steele and Labalestra. The following voted "nay": None. Absent: Councilman Ecklund. Snelling Falcon Heights, Mn ~~478 Upon a vote being taken the following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien Councilmen Black, Steele and Labalestra. The following voted "nay": None. Absent: Councilman Ecklund. Motion carried. Councilman Labalestra moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien to permit the Liquor Store manager George Willkom to post a temporary adver- tising and welcoming sign for the N.S.R.A. State Rod Nationals for four (4) days on the front of the Liquor Store. Upon a vote being taken, the following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black and Labalestra. The following voted "nay": Councilman Steele. Absent: Councilman Ecklund. Motion carried. 72 CORP. & CIGARETTE LICENSES SIGNED TEMPORARY ADV. SIGN LIQUOR STORE Clerk Administrator Barnes was advised to notify all candidates COUNCIL SEAT who have applied for consideration to fill the council seat which VACANCY MEETING will be open due to Councilman Ecklund's resignation effective on July 31, 1977. The Council will consider such applicants on August 28, 1977 at the regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. Councilman Steele moved, seconded by Councilman Black to adjourn ADJOURNMENT the meeting at 6:16 p.m. Upon a vote being taken, the following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Steele and Labalestra.
