HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCMin_72Jul6_Special4g MINUTES OF SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING FALCON HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA JULY 6, 1972 A special meeting of the Falcon Heights Council was called to order by Mayor Warkentien at 10:05 P.M. after previously interviewing Architects which started at 8:00 P.M. PRESENT: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Ecklund, Stone, Taylor. Also present was Clerk-Administrator Barnes. ABSENT : None Interviews of Architects, Close and Associates Inc., and Progressive Design Associates were held at 8:00 P.M. Close and Associates Inc. submitted their estimate figures for remodeling of Weber's Cottage Inn as follows: (Reports on file with the Clerk-Administrator) Architect's 1. Minimum Alteration $ 27,000.00 Estimates: 2. Alteration & Addition 51,800.00 3. New Building (60'X50') 87,000.00 Progressive Design estimate figures submitted were as follows: 1. Remodeling Existing Building $ 1l~,720.00 2. Remodeling Existing Building & Alternate Consideration 29,730.00 3. New Addition and Remodeling 55,970.00 Council's acceptance are as follows from Progressive Design Assoc: A. Remodeling Existing Building $ 1,720.00 B. Alternate B1 1~0 gauge mesh 160.00 C. Alternate B1~ Blacktopping 750.00 D. Alternate B6 (Carpeting) 1 650.00 Additional Architects Fees on Alternates 3 .00 E. New Addition (30X50) plus fees ~ 1.~1~250.00 Total 9,19 .00 Preparation Motion by Councilman Stone, seconded by Councilman Black, that the to Remodel Village proceed to prepare the facilities acquired, Weber's property, Weber's for occupancy as the Municipal Liquor Store, by remodeling the main Cottage Inn: building and replacing the kitchen portion with a new addition having not less than 1500 square feet on the main floor, with full basement. A discussion was held, and Councilman Taylor moved to amend the motion that the new addition be perpendicular to the main portion of the old building and that the entrance to the Liquor Store to be through the new addition. Councilman Stone seconded the amendment. Roll Call on the amendment was, AYES: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Stone, Taylor. NAY: Councilman Ecklund. Motion carried. Roll Call on the original motion was called as follows: AYES: Mayor ti~Jarkentien, Councilmen Black, Stone, Taylor. NAY: Councilmen Ecklund. Motion carried. ~ i; Progressive Design Motion by Councilman Stone, seconded by Councilman Taylor, Associates, that the Village of Falcon Heights hire Progressive Design Architects Associates, Architects, for the remodeling of the existing Selected: structure and the new addition to the Weber's property to be used as a Municipal Liquor Store, as per their proposal and as directed by the Council. Ro11 Ca11 as follows: AYES: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Ecklund, Stone, Taylor. NAY: Councilman Black. Motion carried. Advertisement for Motion by Mayor Warkentien, seconded by Councilman Stone, Liquor Store that the Clerk-Administrator be directed to proceed to Manager: interview and recommend to the Council a Manager for the Municipal Liquor Store. A discussion was held and Council- man Ecklund moved, seconded by Councilman Taylor, to amend the motion to advertise for a Manager in the Twin City newspaper and the riinnesota League of Municipalities magazine, stipulating that the applicant shall have previous Liquor Store management experience and to submit his application in writing. :'011 Call on the amendment carried unanimously.
