HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCMin_69Nov262930 MEETING OF NOVIIKBF~t 26, 1969 The regular meeting of November 26, 1969 was called to order at 7:05 P.M. with the fo7.iowing members present: Mayor Warkentien, Clerk Taylor, Councilmen Black, Ecklund and Stone. Engineer Lemberg arrived at 7:15, Attorney Seed at 7:l~0, and Treasurer Olsen at 8:05 P.M. Minutes: Ecklund moved that the mirnxtes of the November 13, 1969 meeting be approved as corrected. Stone seconded and motion carried. Supervisors for The following four bays appeared at the Council meeting Skating Rinks: to have their applications fbr employment to supervise at the Falcon Heights skating rinks approved, atui also to discuss their duties and responsibilities. Daniel Emerson George Vavoulis Robert Ke113.n Michael Be313n Lauderdale Falcon He~.ghts Mrs. Thomas Mc4ot~gh of Falcon Heights, Mr. Donald Peterson, Little North Star Hockey: and Mr. Pahl Phillips of Lauderdale appeared to discuss Little League Hockey for Lauderdale-Falcon Heights. Their teams will be as follows: Pon~r-age - 8-9-10 year olds, Peewees - 11-12 year olds, and Bazrtams - 13-14-15 year olds. Warkentiea~ moved the Village appropriate $x.00 to be paid to a ~oiYrt board to be established by the Village of Falcon Heights and Lauderdale for the purpose of opera- ting a 3oint winter hocke~g y~ear®e-tion program. Ecklund seconded and motion carried. Attorney Seed was authorized to meet with meanbers to draft the point agreeanemt. Plowing R3.nks: Stone moved that the Village enter into an agreement with Mr. Ken Moore to plow sne:w from the rinks and the Vil.l.age parking lot for the 1969-1970 winter season. The charge for man and equipment is to be $9.50 per hour, and an amount not to exceed $70 far standby service. Warkentien seconded and motion carried. Water Rates Letter: Taylor read a letter fraan Mr. Ernest J. Romero, Research Assistant, Ramseur County League of Manicipalities. Taylor moved that we authorise Engineer to represent the Village of Falcon Heights on the Ramsey County League's Water Rates Com:a3.ttee. Warkemtien seconded and motion carried. Latter was written to Mr. Ernest J. Romero confirming our authorization of Engineer Lemberg. Tree Preu~ing Contract: Stone moved that the proposal submitted by Dr. Gustav Hard, Village Horticultui3st, be approved by the Council to go ahead with tree pruning, tr.Ltraning and repairing or reanoval where needed. The cost of the entire work program wi11 be $689. Warkentiem seconded and motion carried. Fire Reports Ecklund read Fire Report No. 810. 2931 Letter from Ray King Taylor read a letter from Mr. Ray King, Independent Regarding Tennis Courts: School District 623, giving the Village of Falcon Heights formal approval to build a double teami.s court on the Falcon Heights Elernerrtary School property, at E~arden and Albert Street, to begin after the3.r addition to the school building is finished. Special Meeting: A special meeting will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 6, 1969, to discuss the scope of work with Carl Pearson, Village Auditor, aad the higher rate of charges for the 1969 auditing. Lerner from Wausau Homes: Black moved that the request by letter from the Wausau Homes Incorporated, to use 3/8 inch thick Upson Board for a home to be constructed on Lindig Avenue be de- nied. The reason for denial is that it does not meet the present Falcon He3.ghts bui].din$ code. Warkentien seconded and motion carried. (Latter of explanation was written to Wausau Homes Incorporated, and a copy to Mi.chard Magnuson, Village building inspector.) Siderwalk Assessment Taylor moved that the sidewalk assessment at 1376 West Redueeds Iowa Avenue be revised in the amount of $19.77 to the amount of $65.05. Stone seconded and motion carried. Letter to Highway Taylor read a letter written to the Minnesota Highway Department ; Department, by Engineer Lemberg, concerning the I~ani.e- ipal State Aid Funds that have accumulated. The mone~r is being held i.n reserve for future pm~ects 3.n Falcon Heights. Letter from City of St. Taylor read a letter from. Mr. Harry E. Marshall, St. Paul, Bureau of Records: Paul City Clerk, requesting St. Paul's ne3.ghboring m~icipalities to inform City of St. Paul on ar~r future zoning matters. (Letter was written to Mr. Marshall informing him that on all zonir~ matters within 200 feet of the City of St. Paul, notification will be forwarded to the appropriate person.) Letter from County Taylor read a letter from. the County Auditor regarding Auditors deferred assessments being paid to the County Treasurer instead of the Village taking care of the payments i.n the future. Ordinance No. 98: Taylor moved that the Village adopt ©rdinance No. 98, AN ORDINANCE REJ~ATING TO THE COLLECTION OF ASSESSMF~NT5 FOR II+~R~OVF~NTS . Seconded by Eeklund and motion carried. Reschedule Meeting Ecklund moved that we reset the regular meeting of of December 25: December 25, 1969 to December 18, 1969 due to Christmas.
