HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCMin_63Jun3_Special192I~ SPECIAL MEETING OF JUNE 3, 1963 The meeting was called to order at 8:00 P.M. with the following ansmbers being present: Harold Nilsen, Mayor; Geprge Shavor, Trustee; Charles Stone, Trustee; and W. A. Mortenson, Clerk. Also present ware Brad Lemberg, Engineer; and Manna Vavoulis, Deputy Clerk. Motion was made try Shavor, seconded try Stone to accept the minutes of the regu~r meeting of May 22, 1963. All ayes. Speeding at the corner A latter from Co7.lin Alexander of 1868 Arona was read of Arona and Ruggaess regarding high speeds at this corner, mainly try teen- age drivers. Coven Harmer of the Police Department was present and he was requested to advise Don Arndt, Com- missioner, about the possibility of buying or renting an electrical tab timer. North Snelling Avenue This special aaveeting was called to hear from people Sanitary Ssarer bctension: involved as to the feasibility of said extension. Mrs. Panttiar, her sister, Mri. Saunders, Mr. Thatcher,. and Mr. Strandquist were present to give their vienrs. It was agreed that if the cost was approximately ~t.0 per front foot, they would like to have this sanitary sewer extension. tdr. Thatcher volunteered to take a petition to the ten homes involved and get signatures of the people who agree to this extension. Mrs. Pant~ar advised that her front yard has more sand and wash-out than ever before. It was agreed to have Mr. Quern the maintenance man, check into this matter. Billiard Parlor: The Planning Commission is in favor of the Conditional Emil Melixi Use Permit for Emil Melin to operate a billiard. parlor, sub3ect to the Village having soave control over it, so it would not show signs of deterioration. Stone moved, Shavor seconded that the Conditional Use Permit be approved with the inclusion that the closing hours shall be no later than I:00 A.M. All ayes. A public hearing sha11 be held on such proposed improvement on the 26th day of June, 1963 in the Council Chambers in the Village Hall at 16li2i. Application for The council was advised by Staxil.ery Schultz of the Fire Volunteer Firemans Department that Dayton LeRoy Wilkens of 966 Charles Street, St. Paul ~rorke. in Lauderdale and is available for duty during the day, also that he plans to move to Lauderdale. Motion made by Stone, seconded by Shavor to approve the appointaaent of Air. Wilkens for the necessary probationary period as a voluntary fireman. All ayes. Civil Defenses Stanley Schulte, the director of Civil Defense for Falcon Heights, eras present and advised that the stor3.ng of the truck recently purch~s~ is a probl~n. His thoughts are that the truck is of no real value. Motion xas made by Shavor, seconded by Stone that the Civil Defense panel truck be sold for a mtninaun of X200 to the Civil Defense Department of Ramsey County. All ayes. 1926 1 i ~~ Political Signs The deputy clerk eras instructed to write a letter to barren Brerman regarding the political signs that are still posted. This is in violation of our ordin- ance. Civil Defense: Stanley Schultz advised that additional help would be needed to transport defense supplies to the various shelters. The council has agreed to table ar~r action.
