Planning Commission Meeting Workshop

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM.

C. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
June 28th, 2022 minutes approved by consent
D. PUBLIC HEARING
1. None
E. NEW BUSINESS
1. Comprehensive Plan Review
a. Staff presented the report regarding updates and future actions on the 2040
Comprehensive Plan. Staff read key strategies and policy items from each of the
main chapters of the comprehensive plan.
b. The commission members provided feedback and requested clarification of
policies that contained ambiguity. Staff recommends reviewing the
comprehensive plan to update and remove these points of confusion and
conflict. It is recommended that the Commission continue the work of reviewing
the comprehensive plan in more detail and make recommendation to council to
update.
c. Staff recommend conducting a corridor study of Larpenteur Avenue to include
the University of Minnesota Golf course or potential master planning. The
commission agreed.
d. Staff also recommended the commission prepare to hear a request for the sale
of land to the city as required by state statute.
