REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 3Q, 1963

The meeting was called to order at 7630 P. M. with the followingmembersbeing
present: Mayor Harold Nilsen; Clerk W. A. Mortensen; Trues tees Willis Warkentien
and Charles Stone; Deputy Clerk Tina Vavoulis. Also present was William H. Black,
new elected trustee, and Treasurer William E, Olsen. Absents George J, Shaver,
trustee,
Stone moved, Nilsen seconded that the minutes of the meeting of December 11 be
approved. as submitted. Carried.
Swearing ins Clerk Mortensen performed the duty of swearing in the
elected Justice of the Peace, Dwain L, Jones and the
newly elected Trustee William H. Black. Clerk Mortensen
also administered the oath of office to re-elected Mayor
Harold Nilsen and re-elected Treasurer William E, Olsen.
Street lightings A short discussion was held on street lighting needs of
the village and same shall be further discussed.
Correspondences
Civil Defense: Letter dated December 12, 1963 was read requesting the
Mayor to set a date and time for a meeting with LorinS,
Allen of Civil Defense Department, to discuss Pillage Fa11-
out Shelter Program. Mr. Allen will be requested to meet
with the Council at their regular meeting of January 22
at 9s0o P.M.

1 to its general service gas customers in its
St. Paul division, which includes this village, was read.
Distribution will be made from refunds to be received by
that company from its pipeline supplier pursuant to recent
orders of the Federal Power Commission.
Minnesota Safety Notice of meeting which is to be held January 111, 19611 at
Council - 12:15 P.M. at the Hotel St. Paul was read.
Annual meetings
Ramsey County League of Discussion was held regarding attendance at meetings of
Municipalities this League, which have been scheduled on the same evenings
as the Council regular meetings, making it impossible for
council members to attend. Clerk Mortensen will contact
the League in an effort to find solution.
Bethel Colleges Mayor Nilsen advised he had been invited to attend a
luncheoa at Bethel College and read letter from them
advising they are desirous of obtaining two. additional
buildings to be used as housing for its students.
Commissioner of High- Letter was read advising that the flashing lights on all
ways -Snow plows and
work crew trucks maintenance trucks has been changed from blue to amber
color and Commissioner requested that any signs or trucks
belonging to the village be changed in accordance.
Trees: Motion made by Nilsen, seconded by Warkentien that contract
which was prepared and submitted ~ Dr. C, Gustav Hard be
sent to each of the three suggested bidders listed below:

Bidders will be requested to bid on the area of work
and work to be accomplished with the twenty-four
trees listed on Snelling Drive to be deleted. Bids
shall be directed to the Village Clerk, securely
sealed and endorsed upon the outside wrapper with
a brief statement or summary as to the work for
which bid is made,
Bids will be opened and considered by the Village
Council at 8:00 P.M, in the Council chambers of
the Vi7.lage Hall on January 8, 196l~.
Upon a vote being taken, the motion was carried,
Gasoline Purchases for Deputy Clerk was instructed to send letter to each
Year of 196l~s of the five gasoline filling stations listed below
for the purpose of receiving bids on gasoline
purchases for the year 196l~,

Plumbing Inspector - Erwin Spandau of 1065 West California has expressed
Application for a desire to become Plumbing Inspector for the Village
Positions for the coming year. Deputy Clerk was instructed to
contact Mr. Spandau requesting that he appear before
the Council at their meeting of January 8, 196l~ at
8s00 P.M.
