Home My WebLink AboutCCMin_65Feb1022Q8 REGULAR MEETING OF FEBRUARY 10, 1965 The meeting was called to order at 7:00 with the following members being present: Mayor Harold Nilsen; Clerk Herbert Strandquist; Trustees Willis Warkentien, Charles Stone and William Black. Also present were Treasurer William Olsen, Engineer Brad Lemberg and Deputy Clerk Tina Vavoulis. Representatives of the League of Women Voters present were Mrs. Ralph Berdie, Mrs. John Foreman, Mrs. Robert Lucas and Mrs. Arthur Erler who presented each council member with the League's 1965 calendar. Mrs. Holloway and members of Girl Scont group, who are working for government badges, were also present. Correspondences Highway Engineer's Minnesota Highway Engineer's Annual Conference will be held Conferences February 22, 23, and 2l~, 1965 at the Leamington Hotel in Minneapolis. Subdivision: Property Located at Dr. Lloyd Smith presented plans to subdivide property at 1795 North Fry Streets 1795 North Fry Street. He is interested in purchasing the property if it can be sub-divided. Engineer Lemberg has checked plans and stated this could be done. Dr. Smith will submit drawings fc:~council review and take necessary steps for subdividing. Falcon Heights Church Mr. Tim Elder, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Parking Lot Drainage: Falcon Heights Congregational Church was present. He advised the Council that the drainage problem has been given careful consideration by the Board and he will apprise the council of any future action. Engineer Lemberg was of the opinion that, basically, the requirements of the original agreement had been adhered to, and maintenance of the area is a necessity. He stated that agreement included that other types of drains be installed if the present dry wells do not properly drain the water. Mr. Elder will. have further information after February 15. Larpentenr-Snelling Mr. and Mrs. Marko, 130 North Snelling Drive, were pros®nt Grade Separation - pursuant to inaccurately written news item in the Suburban Inaccztrate report in Nears. Item stated that proposed plan for the Larpenteur- Suburban Newspapers Snelling Grade Separation would be discussed this evening. They were advised that before final approval of any plan, they would receive notice of public hearing. R. J. Brown - Proposed Mr. R. J. Brown reviewed with the Council plans to erect a Apartment Building multiple dwelling on the lot ad~aeent to Weber's R estaurant between Crawford Avenue presently owned by the Falcon Heights State Bank. He was and Alley on Snelling advised that variance application is required for said Avenues plans; also that permit must be obtained from the council for conditional usage of the property for multiple dwelling. 2209 Arthur Jorgenson Mr. Jorgenson of 1711 North Albert, submitted proposed plans for Apartment Building apartment building, also conditional use request for near Tattam and same on the property presently owned by George Gasperro Larpenteur - at Tatum and Larpenteur. Engineer reeomnended that Mr. Conditional Use Jorgenson have the property surveyed, and also that he Application: try to obtain additional eight to ten feet. Black moved that the conditional use request and variance application submitted by Arthur Jorgenson for the property described as follows be referred to the Planning Commission. Unplatted lands - Sub to Co Rd A and Tatum Street the S 333 ft of W 1/3 of S 1/2 of W 1/2 of E 60 acres of SW 1/~, of 16 29 23 Referral to the Planning Commission is sob~ect to the applicant's obtaining an up-to-date survey of the entire property. Motion was seconded by Strandquist and carried. Arthur Jorgenson - After discussion regarding the general unkempt appearance Property adjacent to of empty lot ormed by Mr. Jorgenson adjacent to his 1711 No. Alberta home, (referred to in minutes of September 9, 196.) he stated he would clean it up in the spring. Proposed Amendment Black introduced the following resolution and moved its Ordinance No. 6l~ - adoptions Re: B-lA Limited Business and Proc- WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Village essing District: Council of the Village of Falcon Heights that Ordinance 6!~ as published, contains a defect and omission of drafts- manship, and WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interest of the Village of Falcon Heights to amend said ordinance by amending Section 10 and Section 11, as shown in the draft of amendment prepared by the Village Attorney, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Village Council of Falcon Heights, Minnesota refer the matter to the Planning Commission and request the Commission's approval of the proposed amendment. Motion was seconded by Stone and upon a vote being taken, the following voted in favor thereofs Nilsen, Strandquist, Warkentien, Stone and Black; and the following voted against the sames None, Whereupon the resolution was adopted this 10th day of February 1965. Proposed Apartment Mr. Clarence Lame has submitted plans for four 60-unit Buildings.- Killmer's apartment buildings to be built on the property presently Nurseries Property: known as Killmer's Nurseries. The Village Engineer was instructed to make examination of same and make report to the Council. Proposed Bills before Representative Robert Ashbach has directed,for the State Legislature - Council's review, four bills scheduled for presentation Re: Minnesota State to this session of the Legislature. Each one pertains Agricultural Society: to Falcon Heights inasmuch as each concerns the Minnesota State Agricultural Society and amendments to statutes. i 1 1 2210 Nilsen moved, seconded by Black that the four bills be referred to the Village Attorney. Motion carried. Volunteer Fire A short discussion was held regarding volunteers in Departments the fire department and drill nights. Maintenance Department - Engineer Lemberg advised that to build a two vrheel cart that could be towed behind the new truck to carry New Truck -trailer the steamer - the cost would be about x.50. A near to hold steamers four~rheel trailer to carry the steamer and tank could run from $7.26.50 to X7.82.50 for dust wheels and chassis. A flat bed without tires would cost about X315. Neror Truck - deealss Engineer presented new decals to the council. The possibility of obtaining more decals to place on fire trucks and squad car was discussed. Bills Strandquist moved that the following bills be paid. Seconded by Black and carried.
