HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCMin_65Sep82287 REGULAR MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 8, 1965 The regular meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. with the following members present: Mayor Nilsen, Clerk Strandquist, Trustees Warkentien, Stone and Black. Also present were Engineer Lemberg, Attorney Galvin and Treasurer Olsen. Minutes Black moved, Stone seconded that the minutes of the special meeting of August 18, 1965 be approved. Ayess A11. Nays: None. Motion was carried. Stone moved, seconded by Strandquist that the minutes of the meeting of August 25, 1965 be approved. Ayes: All. Nays: None. Motion was carried. Correspondences Regulation of Letter dated September 1st from Attorney Galvin stated Motorcycles and that existing statutes cover most of the problems brought Scooters about by motorcycles and motorscooters in this Village. Letter written to W. Warkentien by attorney dated August 26, 1965 regarding same was reviewed. Sewer Rates: Copy of letter to Thomas Newsome written by Otto G. Bonestroo regarding sewer rates was read. Special Meeting A special meeting has been called for October 6, 1965 Calleds ~ at 7:30 P.M. for the purpose of discussing the 1966 budget. State Fair Days Letter of September 6 from Paul. Coppini requested no Parkings parking arrangements be made for the Northome Area during the ten days of the State Fair, particularly in the alleys. Pending Street Letter of September lst from E. V. Bergstrom, Supervisor Lighting Rate Municipal Services of Northern States Power Company Increase - NSPs regarding pending street lighting rate increase was read. Citizens Sanitary Sewer Attorney Galvin stated he had received communication Disposal Plants or from a consnittee of citizens formed to prepare and endorse Districts some form of legislation with regard to sanitary sewer disposal plants and districts. Falcon Woads Playground: Frank Rog, Roseville Recreation Director has requested use of the Falcon Woods Playground twice a week during the football season. Arrangements with Falcon Woods Playground Association shall be made for turning lights on and off for these practices. Resolution correcting Stone introduced the following resolution and moved its Minutes of the adoptions Meeting of May 26, 1965: WHEREAS, this council in its meeting on May 26, 1965 failed to reflect that the Council took the aforesaid action and !~.~ .1~2~A JroQi-~ 5~~i'P- Correction of Minutes of May 26, 1965 -(continued) Resolution Calling Public Hearing on Improvement 65-1: WHEREAS, it is desirable that said minutes be corrected to accurately reflect the action of the council at said meeting, NONT, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of Falcon Heights, Minnesota that the minutes of the meeting of May 26, 1965 be and the same hereby are corrected by adding thereto the following resolution which was moved by Black and seconded by Stone and unanimously passed by the Councils WHEREAS, pursuant to a motion adopted May 5, 1965, a preliminary report has been prepared by Bonestroo, Rosene and Associates, the Village Consulting Engineers, with respect to the proposed improvement of the Village of Falcon Heights by the construction of a Northeast Storm Sewer Area, encompassing that part of the Village bounded by Roselawn, Hamline, Larpenteur and Snelling Avenues (hereinafter referred to as Improvement 65-1) and WHEREAS, said engineers have advised this council that the said improvements are feasible and should best be made as proposed, as stated in said report, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of Falcon Heights that said report is hereby accepted by the Council. The motion was duly being taken thereon Nilsen, Warkentien, the following voted said resolution was ~9hereupon Black introduced the adoption. seconded by Black and upon a vote the following voted in favor thereof: Stone, Black and Strarxiquist and against the same: None. Council wil 1 consider improvement of such area in accordance with the report and the assessment of abutting and non-abutting and benefited properties in the drainage area for all or a portion of the cost of the improvement pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Sees. l~29.011 to l~29,111 (laws of 1953, Ch. 398 as amended) at an estimated total cost of the improvement of $98,230.00. 2, $ public hearing shall be held on such proposed improvement on the 30th day of June in the council chambers of the Village Ha11 at 8x00 P,M. and the Clerk shall. give published notice of such hearing and improve- ment as required by law. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Black and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Nilsen, Warkentien, Stone, Black and Strandquist and the following voted against the same: None. Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Lengthy discussion was held on the Northeast Area Storm Sewer Improvement 65-1.
