Shavor, Trustee; ~Pillis Warkentien, Trustee, Paul Coppini, Trustee; Wm. R. Utecht, Clerk. Also present were Frank N. Graham, Village Attorney, Wm. E. Olsen, Treasurer and Ethel NYhite, Deputy Clerk and Deputy Treasurer. The Minutes of the special meeting of June 9th were approved as submitted. The Minutes of the regular meeting of June 12th were approved as submitted. MGI License The Clerk was instructed to order 500 sets of gas burner license Application application blanks from Diamond Press, 21~ S. 6th St., Minneapolis, Blanks. Minnesota at ~1I~.90 as per quotation of June 17th. Seebeck The request of Bernard N. Seebeck, 1381W. Iowa Avenue, in a Garage letter dated May 22nd, 1958, requesting a variance from section Variance 5 1!t ~ ordinance #3, the building code, to permit him to erect a new double garage on his property which would be approximately 17 feet from his neighbor's garage was considered by the Council. On motion by Utecht, seconded by Shavor, the following resolu- tion was unanimously adopted: RESOLVED: Teat the Council finds that the granting of the var- iance requested by Mr. Seebeck will not materially affect ad- versely health, safety or general welfare o~ Public or Private Property. RESOLVID FURTHER: That the variance requested be and hereby is granted, and that the building inspector be authorized to issue the permit requested. L~rownson, County Engineer, was Fore Main ~ read. It stated reconstruction of Larpenteur Avenue from Ferrnrood Storm Sew. to Arona would cost X296,586.80; an analyzation of the bid did closes Facilities that, subject to possible minor adjustments, the complete pumping unit, force main and storm sewer facilities will cost X55,216.55; deducting state aid funds, on the basis of 25~, which amounts to ~13,80l~.1l~, leaves a balance of $1i1,1~.12.1~1 for which the Village of Falcon Heights, the Village n~f Roseville and the County of Ramsey will be responsible on an equal basis, in other words 1~3 each; each of these three governmental units will be responsible for an amount of l~13,80l~.llt subject to such adjustments, either up or down, as may develop. Such adjustments, if any, will be very minor ones, ~V ~~L Paul Coppini presented a petition for improvement of alley Alley between Iowa and Hoyt from Pascal to Albert which. was Improvement turned over to Mr. Graham for further checking. Alley main- It was pointed out that snow plowing of private alleys has to tenance be done on a personal basis - a group of property owners abutting on a certain alley would get together and hire some- one to plow the snow and then each pay his share toward the expense. There was a general discussion regarding street and alley maintenance and the Village's dis-satisfaction with work be- ing done by the County Crews was made known to Engineer Ljungren who will take the matter up with the men in supervisory positions. PdeLean, Shell Oil Co., 1t~07 Larpenteur Ave., St. Paul, 13. ~Q<<;.:~ TATUM There was a general discussion regarding the proposed improve- ment on Tatum Street, and the water problem involved, and it was decided that it would be better for Mayor Nilsen, Engineer L3un- gren and other interested parties to discuss the matter on loca- tion and a meeting was arranged for Friday night, June 27th, 7 P. M. Julian Lee Mr. Lee stated that the culvert under his driveway had not been 18l~0 W. put back in place properly after the sewer was laid, and he asked Larpenteur why'.the ditch wasn't being taken care of. He was advised by Mr. Steffes that the culvert would be moved to its proper position and that the ditch would be taken care of. Gage Letter outlining the Planning Board's recommendation was read. Develop- Mr. Cage submitted his new plan showing enlarged culdesacs. went Mayor Nilsen reported he had seen and talked to Dean Fenske and Dean Macey of the University regarding use of some of their property as a. recreation area, and that they seemed cooperative inasmuch as they also had a recreation problem, which wouldn't conflict with our use a.s far as hours were concerned; and it seemed like the Village and the University could probably use the same space. They would, however, have to take the matter up with the Board of Regents. Warkentien said he didn't see any necessity for holding up Gage's proposed development until the play area was settled. Nilsen feels about a days work with a bull dozer should take care of the grading. Nilsen and Gage will meet Monday night to discuss the matter further. Ahlberg Letter from Cdr. Ahlberg's attorney was read. After discussion, Blvd. the matter was tturned over to Attorney Graham for further action. The Council feels that it has already spent as much as they want to spend on this pro3ect. They feel the boulevard, culvert and drainage are all in good condition; and had the newly laid sod been properly watered, its original green condition would have been maintained. Streets The heavy traffic on Arona and California is doing considerable used as damage to the streets. Steffes says our streets were not in- Detours tended to handle such heavy traffic, they were designed for a maximum `of about !t ton. If the County intends to continue directing heavier loads over. them, they should do something to N ~~ build them up before serious damage occurs, Steffen feels The County should put a top on them right now. Ljungren thinks Crampton is the man we should contact.. E. W. Steffen advised that Springs drivew~y_.,.._ would be removed Spring, 1665 to the cut and tied in with the street with either concrete Garden or bituminous material -whichever Mr. Spring prefers. Simpson Steffen advised they will be fixing holes on Simpson with Street Hot Mix and then it will be sealed.
