REGULAR I~~EETING, August 28th, 1958.
::Zeeting was celled to order at 7:30 P. ~L, the following Council L4embers
being present: Harold C. Nilsen, ~.4ayor; George Shavor, Trustee; Paul
Coppini, Trustee; Willis ~iJarkentien, Trustee; and l~:m. R. Utecht, Clerk.
Also present were Frank Iv. Graham, Village Attorney; Vernon Ljungren,
Village Engineer and ti"m. E. Olsen, Treasurer. 1~bsent: Ethel E. white, Deputy
Clerk and Deputy Treasurer.
The Minutes of the regular meeting of August 14th were arproved as submitted.
Schultz ~~.~r. Schultz's letter of August 4th, 1958 requesting that
Vacation one week of his this year's vacation be deferred until 1959
so that he can take three weeks of vacation then to take his
family on a trip to Oregon was read. It was moved by Vdarken-
tien, seconded by Coppini and unanimously carried that rtSr.
Schultz's request be granted subject to the approval of the
Fire Chief and upon the condition that no precedent is to be
established by this action. The Clerk is to notify Mr. Schultz
by letter of this action, with a copy to be sent to the Fire Chief.
~'arthel The attorney's letter of August 22nd to ',4r. Greenstein was read.
Villas The P.ayor appointed George Shavor and Bob Johnson as a committee
to consider the purchase of the Aarthel Villas lots with the re-
quest that they report back to the Council at its next regular
meeting on September 11th, 1958.
Shades Letter of the Twin City Shade Company dated August 25th cuoting
on venetian ~;linds for the Village Hall was read. The Council
will receive some additional bids before an action is taken.
Tatum Steffes' letter of Augus+ 26th advising of the result of the
Street Twin City Testing Laboratory tests on Tatum Street showing
density in excess of 90~ was read. and ordered filed.
Garden Letter of County Engineer Bronson dated August 26th relating to
Avenue the unsatisfactory condition of Garden Avenue between Hamline
and Pascal was read and the Clerk was directed to make a copy
of this letter and send it to Steffes.
Minnesota After discussion it was moved by Coppini, seconded by Utecht
Sta+~e and unanimously carried that the claim of Earl Grumke, Herbert
Fire School Leier and Gordon Nelson in the amount of X5120.00 for compensa-
Expenses tion for time lost at employment and expenses while attending
the Minnesota State Fire School April 28th to P;~ay 2nd, 1958,
be paid and tha+ the Fire Chief be advised that in the future
persons attending such schools will receive expenses only in
amounts determined by the Council beforehand.
Falcon The. Mayor reported that work on the Falcon ?'~~oods street, accord-
Woods ing to Sina, would start Friday, August 29th, 1958. Vern Ljungren
reported that portions of the streets would be scarified and re-
shaped and some new aggregate would be brought in to build a
12 to 2 inch road mix. Firm areas in the present street are
not to be disturbed, only the broken area is to be reworked, ndr.
Ljungren will supervise the work.
Roselawn The Mayor reported that Mr. Chenoweth was checking the speed
Avenue limits on Roselawn and said he would wait until after Fair 4~eek
to complete his check. It was reported that the limit on the

Roseville side of Roselavm had already been reduced and the
Mayor said he would check this matter also with Chenoweth.
Fire Dept. After discussion, it was moved by ti~~iarkentien, seconded by
Emergencies Utecht and unanimously carried that the following resolu-
tion be adopted:
iNHEP~EAS, the Village Council desires to
authorize the Falcon Heights Fire Department to enter
into an arrangement with the Roseville Fire Department
whereby each department will assist the other in case
of major fire emergencies,
NORr Ti-?EREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village
Council of Falcon Heights, Minnesota:
1. That the Falcon Heights Fire Chief, or
officer in charge in his absence, is hereby authorized,
in case of a major fire emergency in Roseville and.
upon request of the Roseville Fire Chief, or officer
in charge, to send such Falcon Heights' fire equip-
ment to Roseville as in his judgment can be spared and
in case of a major fire emergency in Falcon Heights to
call upon the Roseville Fire Department for similar
assistance..
2. The Clerk is authorized and directed to send
a copy of the resolution to the Roseville Village Council
with a letter advising t'rem that it has been passed by
the Falcon Heights Village Council at this meeting.
Street 'r'dork
Seal Coating Letter of Ljungren dated August 28th, 1958 to the Council
was read and discussed. It was moved by Utecht, seconded
by Coppini that the County be instructed to spot seal the
• streets in Falcon Heights, the said work to be supervised
by Vern Ljungren.
Sewer A discussion was had as to whether and how the sewer should
Inspection be inspected since the one year contractor's guarantee was
about to run out. Ljungren is to discuss this matter with
the City of St. Paul to see what type of check should be
made and whether they can do the work and the cost.
Street The matter of sweeping the Village Streets was discussed
Sweeping and it was tentatively determined to let the sweeping go
until early in 1959.
Falcon Vdoods ~,Sr. Gage was present and matters in connection with his
~#2 Plat Falcon :roods #2 plat were discussed. The attorney was re-
quested to check the procedure which would be necessary
for Mr. Gaffe to be permitted to connect additional sewers
for the new plat to the existing sewers.
Ljungren recommended that the addition to the sewer he in-
stalled by the Village of r'alcon Heights and covered by a
cash deposit of the developer.

Gage reported that the plat of Falcon Woods #~2 had been
sent to New York to have the final hardshell plat prepared
and that it would be returned in due time.
The attorney was requested to prepare a petition for Mr.
Gage to sign requesting installation of sewers and streets
in ±he new plat.
Tatum The Mayor reported that Tatum Street would be seal coated on
Street Friday, August 29th, 1958.
Adjournment On motion, the meeting adjourned at 11 P. M.
