Nilsen, Pdayor; George Shavor, Trustee; Millis ?~larkentien, Trustee; Paul Coppini, Trustee and Wm. R. Utecht, Clerk. Also pres- ent was Ethel E. ?White, Deputy Clerk and Deputy Treasurer. Absent Wm. E. Olsen, Treasurer. Drainage & Letter of May 15th from Harry S. ~3ronson, County Engineer, was Highway read. It stated they had moved 2500 cubic yards of fill from Easements: Prior and Summer to Playground Site. The cost of this work amounted to X2,192.70. For a consideration of X2,192.70 the Village is to give Ramsey County a Drainage Easement over the westerly approximately 12 feet and a Highway Easement over the northerly 12 feet of the Village Hall property for the improve- ment of Larpenteur Avenue. Letter was referred to Engineer Ljungren for clarification and further breakdown. Bond release Letter of ?1!ay 18th from ??aryland Casualty asking that we complete T. A. Schifsky: status report regarding their bond 90-533581 - T. A. Schifsky ~ Sons was read. Members of the Council reported poor drainage in a few places and the matter was referred to Engineer Ljun- gren for checking. Planning Letter of May 15th from Attorney Graham was read. It stated Commission: resolution passed by the Village Council !x/25/50 provides that the Planning Commission consist of 5 members, 3 of whom are appointed by the Council. The ~tth being the Street Commissioner and the 5th the Building Inspector. All members have the right to vote and the term of the three men appointed runs for 3 years, 1 of which terminates each year. ~~ayor Nilsen will con- tact Hindermann and report ~t the next meeting. Unlicensed Report from Wm. G. Dunkel that unlicensed plum'oers and gas in- Plumbers Rc stallers were operating in the Village was read and the deputy ?.Taster Gas clerk instructed to write Jastrow, the Plumbing Inspector and Installers: Eha, the Gas Inspector, asking that they report any unlicensed operators to the Village Council at once. Playground Letter of Rgay 21st from Curtis L. Larson was read. It requested Safety that'the Council ask the Ramsey County Highway Department to es- ?~Reasures: tablish the following Safety ?deasuress 1, A 20 MPH speed limit from Cleveland to Tatum. 2, A pedestrian crossing at the Play- ground entrance requiring a stop when occupied. 3 Suitable , playground warning signs. It was moved by Utecht, seconded by Shavor and unanimously voted to refer this request t,o Don Arndt, Public Safety Commissioner, for study and recommendation after consultation with the Ramsey County Traffic Engineer. Floor waxing Letter of May 11th from R. J. Loughrey was read. It quoted & polishing machine with polish brush X150.00, 3 ft4 Drive pad on metal disc F~Zachine: X525.00, 10 Scotchbrite Pads for use with this machine X15.30, Loughrey to service the machine, no charge, for 1 year. It was moved by Vdarkentien, seconded by Coppini and unanimously voted that the Village purchase this machine as per agreement outlined above. N. L. Hermes R. A. Shelgren, 1735 Snelling, appeared to protest Hermes use of lot 7 narking: lot 7 for parking in violation of a deed restriction in force at the time Shelgren purchased his property from Hermes. After dis- cussion iJtecht moved that Mr. Stern and Mr. Hermes be ad- vised that their requests for use of the properties on Cleveland Avenue are being held in abeyance until the over- all plan for the Village is completed. Seconded by Shavor and. unanimously carried. The deputy clerk was instructed to write Mr. Hermes and I~~:r. Stern advising that in view of the Planning Report made by Carl L. Gardner at our request on the immediate problem, the present recommendation is that this property should not be developed further industrially. Funds F. H. Coppini reported he will contact the Falcon Heights '3ank to Community determine who was the last Treasurer of the Falcon Hei~:hts Club: Community Club and advise Glen Harjung, after which Harjung will contact the people in office at that time and call a meeting of the club to act on the disbursement of funds in the Treasury at the time of the last meeting. Lighting In view of the fact that candy-one bid was received from the Village three firms invited to bid on the lighting at theTillage Hall: Hall, it was decided to hold the matter over until additional bids could be called for and received. Sewer rental The deputy clerk was authorized to order 3000 sewer rental cards: cards as had in the past with the addition of "Return Postage Guaranteed" printed on the address side. License car- The deputy clerk was instructed to call the City of St. Paul wash estab- and ask them what license fee they charge for the operation lishment: of a car wash. Squad car: After discussion, it was moved by ~rarkentien, seconded by Utecht and unanimously voted that the order for the squad car be awarded to D~Iidway Ford as per their bid of IFay 20th signed by Donald B. Zalk, the awarding of the order to be held up a few days until Attorney Graham determines whether the "Surf flue" color is permissable for use on a squad car. Rats: The Deputy Clerk was instructed to write the residents at 1764 Arona requesting that they fill the hole in their backyard where they have been throwing refuse which has attracted rats. 121 ~ Bills: On motion by Vlarkentien, seconded by Shavor, the following bills were ordered paid: N.
