Nilsen, Mayor; George J. Shavor, Trustee; tiVillis Warkentien, Trustee; Paul Coppin, Trustee and ~Jdm. R. Utecht, Clerk. Also present were Frank N. Graham, Village Attorney, Vern Ljun~*ren, Village Engineer, Wm. E. Olsen, Treasurer, and Ethel E. White, Deputy Clerk and Deputy Treasurer. . ~~~~~ Traffic Letter of June 5th written by Warkentien to P~;Zayor Nilsen was read and filed for future reference, the clerk being instructed to mail a copy to C. L. Larson, Chairman West Falcon Heights Playground Committee. Variance Dr. Robt. K. Grau, 1628 h~aple Knoll Drive, appeared before the Council to request a variance permitting him to build a fence as per plan sub- mitted, copy of which is filed with letter of request. While the plan does not comply strictly with the provisions of Ordinance No. 10 re- lating to the height of fences, it was moved by Utecht and seconded by Warkentien that the followin;; resolution be adopted= RESOLVED that the request of Dr. Robt. K. Grau for a variance to permit the erection of a redwood fence in his back yard according to plans and specifications submit±.ed is hereby granted since the Council finds that the granting of such variance will not materially affect adversely health, safety or general welfare or public or private property. The following vote was recorded: Harold C. Police Public Safety Commissioner Ax'ndt advised that Patrolman Jerome Johnson has offered to work for daytime men when they vrish to take time off. Johnson is to be paid at, the rate of $2.00 an hour. It eras agreed that the Village would pay any Roseville Policeman who came to Falcon Heights to testify on a "Driving while under the Influence" case to the extent of X15.00. The Clerk was requested to make copies of Chapter 1.109 H. P, No. 903 for Arndt and Graham. Arndt said the Village of Falcon Ne~~hts is expected to help with Traffic Control during; fikte rush hours while Larpenteur is being con- structed and that the various departmeMts are working together. Shavor moved that the file o.f sewer complaints be referred to the engineer for study and report to Council. Seconded by Coppini and unanimously carried. After discussion, it was moved by Utecht that we advertise for bids for materials for street maintenance for the construction season of 1959 in the Rose Tribune on Thursday, June 25th, 1959, subject to the approval of the Village Attorney. If ~:e are interested, we have a pro- posed ordinance and we might want to develop a little questionnaire and mail it to them, Shavor moved that the matter covering an ordinance for the franchise for Suburban Sanitation be referred to Attorney Graham.
