SPECIAL °,iEETING i~/7/60
T~ieeting was called to order at 8 P. ~d. , the following Council Tdembers being present:
Harold C. Nilsen, P~~ayor; George J. Shavor, Trustee; Willis Warkentien, Trustee; Paul
Coppini, Trustee and Wm. R. Utecht, Clerk. Also present was Ethel E. White, Dep.
Clk. and Dep. Treas.
Lauderdale Messrs. Donald Johnson and J. Langenberger, Trustees from Lauderdale,
Fire were present. Johnson and Langenberger felt that present charges were
Contract very low, but that proposed charges were too high. After a lengthy
discussion, it was decided that both Lauderdale and Falcon Heights
make further detailed study and get together at a later date for
more discussion.
Traffic Fry Af ter discussion, Utecht moved that the East side of Fry Street
Street be posted with "No Parking this side of Street" signs. Seconded
by Coppini and carried.
Fire School It was moved by Warkentien, seconded by Shavor and unanimously
Registration voted to authorize the expenditure of ~~5.00 to cover the registra-
tion of Donald T.ierkel, Albert Helbig and Bertrand Slama at the
l~iinnesota State Fire School April 25 - 28, 1960.
Requisitions It was moved by Warkentien, seconded by Shavor and unanimously
voted to approve the Fire Department's requisition #161 for sweep-
ing compound, mop heads, cleansing powder and deodorant cleaner.
It was moved by Coppini, seconded by Shavor and unanimously voted
to approve requisition #162 covering the repair of the front seat
cushions on Engine #1.
It was moved by Warkentien, seconded by Nilsen and unanimously
voted to a-prove requisition #163 for manila rope and snaps for
rings on Chemox Masks to be used for safety lines on Chemox masks.
Sign It was moved by Utecht, seconded by Coppini and unanimously -YOted;that the
Building Inspector issue permit to the Lawrence Sign Company for
sign to be erected for Suburban Credit Loan, as per sketch submitted
with application for building permit, if in order.
Police After discussion, it was agreed that the Applicant for Patrolman's
fob who was interviewed and approved by Arndt, Shavor and Warkentien,
be asked to appear before the Council for an interview.
. It was moved by V`darkentien, seconded by Shavor and unanimously
voted that Patrolman Jerome R. Johnson's salary be increased to
~Ja10.00 per month, effective the first of May.
Larpenteur Ave. After discussion, Shavor moved the approval of the plans of con-
Cleveland to W. struction of Larpenteur Avenue from Cleveland to the West Village
Village limits Limits subject to the widening of the opening in the median strip in
front of the Historical Society's entrance. Seconded by Nilsen
and unanimously carried.
Utecht moved the passage of the resolution from the Ramsey County
Engineer's office for the. reconstruction of Larpenteur Avenue from
Cleveland Avenue to Fulham Street. Seconded by Coppini and carried.
Engineers Utecht moved that the services of Milner W. Carley & Associates
as Village Engineers, be terminated effective May lst, 1960,
and that the firm of Otto '3onestroo & Associates, Inc., be en-
gaged as Village Engineers effective May lst, 1960. Seconded
by V'Jarkentien and carried.
Building Shavor moved that the Clerk send a resolution of commendation
Insz~ector to Nick Christensen in recognition of his services to the
Village. Seconded by Nilsen and carried.
Police V~Tarkentien moved that the Clerk send a Resolution of Commendation
to Earl Smith in recognition of his services to the Village.
Seconded by Coppini and carried.
