Stone, Trustee; ti~tillis Vtarkentien, Trustee; W. A. Mortenson, Clerk. Also present were lit. J. Galvin, Village Attorney; ti'~m. E. Olsen, Treasurer; and Ethel E. ';;bite, Deputy Clerk and Deputy Treasurer. Absent: Geo. J. Shavor. Civil Defense: Leo J. Z".'eet, Director of Civil Defense was present and advised. that Karl Klohn, Civil Defense Director, Lauderdale, had put him in touch with R. C. Faber who is willing to donate a used tank truck for Civil Defense purposes. It was his opinion that if the truck could be used for fire purposes as well as Civil Defense, it vrould be advisable to accept it and put it in opera- tional condition. The motor was completely overhauled and not used since. It needs tires and. rims for the front wheels, and the tires on the back wheels ti^could probably need to be replaced. V~(eet estimated the necessary exvense at approximately X500.00. Sewer: Clerk Mortenson read the list of names of those residents whose homes have not ,yet been connected to the sewer and the deputy clerk was advised to write them requesting that they contact a sewer installer, take out a Hermit within ten days, and arrange for installation as quickly as possible. Tree: It was reported by resident at 1184 V`d. California that there _s a tree which makes ingress and departure from the driveway very difficult. ~:~ayor Nilsen ~~rill check and report later. Barthel Villas: Letter from Douglas, Sheets and Bell, inquiring about the. present status of Lo'-s 13, lit, 20, and 21, Block 1, 3arthel Villas ti^ras read. ~,~Tarkentien recommended that the Village check into the possibility of ~arthels selling all vacant land to one ownership, permitting them to build on a portion of it, digging the balance deeper so ti~Jater retention capacity would not be reduced and fencing the drainage area. No decision tivas reached. The matter will be given furth>r study. Sewer '^~ain: Robert L. Johnson, 1883 No. Albert, advised th:~a, in his opinion, the sewer main was not laid deep enough in front of his home. The Deputy Clerk ti^ras instructed to contact Engineer Lemberg who checked the installation and ascertain his findings. Bonds: On motion duly made, seconded and adopted, the Village Council of Falcon Heights, ?:Zinn:~sota, set bond in the amount of ~fi1000.00, and approved the policies vvritten by Robert Johnson of the Keller Corporation v~rith the General Insurance Company of America for Ethel E. !!!bite, Z°Jm. E. Olsen, and ~:dwin A. Johnson. Pla..t.ting Art Lindig inquired whe+,her his nronosed plat had been referred to the Planning Commission. ~;iayor Nilsen advised that the Planning Commission did not act on it or attempt any recommendation and he woul^:. recommend a sand ~.:_se study for that area. Comes of Lindig's nronosed plat were r:turned to him. Council eiayor Nilsen distributed copies of the 1962 Directory of Village Agenda: Officers and a-,pointed officials. There was a discussion re- garding individual assignments and a tentative schedule for 1706 handling various Village problems. Land Use Study It was moved by Stone, seconded by '+'arken tien ar.d. voted that the Village have it's engin:~ers study the proposed land use plan and make their recommendations before any action is~ taken. Sewage Dispos- Attorney Galvin reported that he and. Otto 3onestroo would al ~~ attend the -eeting of the °;7etropolitan Sewage Commission ~ 1962, and report on same later. Civil Defense: Nilsen reported tha± he and Civil Defense Director, Leo ti'Teet, attended the Civil Defense rdeeting January °th at the State '"raining Center. It was moved by Stone, seconded by ~Tarkentien and voted that the Falcon Hei~~hts Village Hall be designated as the vrarehouse for the temporary storage of Civil Defense shelter provisions and supplies, and that. Leo. J. ti'ieet, Civil Defense Director, be named as the Government Representative. ~PTeet reported he had talked vrith ?'aul ,TTagner, Drincipal of the Falcon I?ei~-hts Elementary School and Pdrs. uackett. Z~dagner plans to hve 11 groups walk +.,o their homes and have their people take care of them. Gordon Nelson, Albert Helbig and Donald Schoen of the Fire Dep^rtment were present. There was a discussion regarding the tank truck offered for Civil Defense Use. It is their o-pinion that it would be wise to accept the truck, that, most, of the work could be done by members of the fire department, and that the truck could be put in operational condition for about X500.00. The follotrring resolution was moved by Stone, seconded by is2ortenson and carried unanimously: 17HEREAS the Villane Council has been offered an opportunity to purchase a used tank truck for ~1.U0 and other considera- tion from R. C. Faber and ti`tHEREAS the Fire Department has reco^?mended this purchase and V~THEREAS the Council deems it necessary to investigate and inspect said truck prior to acceptance NOVV Tr?EREFORE THE VILLAGE COU~?CIL OF FALCON HEIGHTS appoints the following members of the Council as a committee to investi- gate and inspect said truck and if said truck is in acceptable condition, accept said offer of sale and purchase it on ~oe- half of the ~-'illage: C.
