Nilsen, ~:~Zayor; George Shavor, Trustee; VL'. A. rgortenson, Clerk. Also present were B. Lemberg, Village Engineer; M. J. Galvin, Village Attorney; and Ethel E. tii~hite, Deputy Clerk and Deputy Treasurer. Absent: Willis Warkentien, Trustee; and Charles P. Stone, Trustee. Hearing Clerk Pdortenson opened the Hearing by reading Notice of Crawford Hearing as published in the Rose Tribune September 27th. Avenue Attorney Galvin advised notices were mailed to each of Assessment: the residents affected, and affidavit of mailing is on file. There were no appearances either in person or by letter ob- jecting to the assessment. On motion by Shavor, seconded by Mortenson, it was unanimously voted to adopt the following RESOLUTION ADOPTING ASSESS?.ENT; WHEREAS, pursuant to proper notice duly given as required by law, the council has met and heard and passed upon all objections to the proposed assessment for the improvement of Crawford Avenue between Arona Avenue to Simpson Avenue and the construction of curbs and gutters on Crawford Avenue, N04°I THe,REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED EY 'S'HE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF FALCON HEIGHTS, P.?II~TN,SOTA: I. Such proposed assessment, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, is hereby accepted and shall constitute the special assessment against the lands named therein, and each tract of land therein included is hereby found to be benefited by the proposed improvement in the amount of the assessment levied against it. 2. Such assessment shall be payable in equal annual in- stallments extending over a period of five years, the first of the installments to be payable on or before the first T~onday in January, 1963, and shall bear interest at the rate of 6q per annum from the date of the adoption of this assessment resolution. To the first installment shall be added interest on the entire assessment from the date of this resolution until December 31st, 1962. To each subse- quent installment when due shall be added interest for one ,year on all unpaid installments. 3. The owner of any property may, at any time prior to certification of the assessment to the county auditor, pay the whole of the assessment on such property with interest accrued to the date of payment, to the Village treasurer, except that no interest shall be charged if the entire assessment is paid within 30 days from the adoption of this resolution; and he may, at any time thereafter, pay to the county treasurer the entire amount of the assessment remain- ing unpaid, with interest accrued to December 31 of the year 181l~ in which such bayment is made. ~.. The clerk shall forthwith transmit a certified duplicate of this assessment to the county auditor to be extended on the proper tax lists of the county, and such assessments shall be collected and paid over in the same manner as other municipal taxes. Carroll said that there was no understanding that he was going to buy back some of the Roberts' property. He will make arrangements for the investment of funds in the various sinking fund accounts upon receipt of in- formation from Treasurer Olsen. There are several traffic cases coming up in Sept., Oct., and November where offenders have asked for change of venue. So far, the fines just about equal the expenses. Budget: The following resolution was moved by Nilsen, seconded by Shavor and unanimously voted; RE IT RESOLVED, by the Village Council of the Village of Falcon Heights that the following sums be and they are hereby levied upon the taxable property of the 'Tillage of Falcon Keights for the year 1962, collectible in the ,year 1963: General Fund 570,805.20 Firemen's Relief 1,500.00 pera 3,520.05 Civil IJefense 350.00 Also that the county auditor be authorized to levy for the following: Vdatermain Improvement of 1960 No. 1 1,500.00 Larpenteur ,Ave. ~rVatermain ~ T'ump. He has contacted sweeper, and was contacted by a new street sweeping service who a~~e equipx~ed with vacuum cleaning equipment and who quoted X5.00 per hour less than the previous contractor and work will be accomplished without the dust.
