Rowley, Deputy Clerk Ralph Van Hoven, Treasurer Absent: John Rysgaard, Trustee The meeting was caned to order by President Matteson at 7:30 p. m. The minutes of the meetings of May,2l~, May 31, and June 7 were read and approved. Public Fxaminer~s Report Ralph Van Hoven reported he had received from the Public Examiner a report on the division and settlement of funds between the Town of Rose and the Village of Lauderdale. Bills: Deputy Clerk Rowley presented the following bills: May 31 - Obercraft, 1,000 checks ~ 111..00 Obercraft, 1,000 sets receipts 2l~.00 May 31 - Clyde J. Stewart b.88 June 1, Falcon Hts. Hdwe. paint for Fire Dept 6.8l1 May 20, Northwest Publications for bids on fire station and village hall 6.30 May 18, Northwest Publications - Ordinance ~1 32.70 May 11 Electric Blue Print 11.52 Dept. of Public Safety for St. Paul Fire Dept. standby charge for June 200.00 June 8 Frank Graham - Verified bill of St.Paul Legal Ledger covering publication and extra copies of Ordinance ~2 on June 3 52.55 sad publication and extra copies of Ordinance ~3 on June !~ 67.60 Art Lindig made a motion, seconded by George Shavor, that the bills be paid. Motion carried. Public Safety George Shavor recommended and so moved that the following Committee committee by appointed to work on public safety for the Village: Joe Rechtiene, Chairman Charles Stearns George Geis The motion was seconded by Art Lindig and carried. Discussion with Matteson reported that Mr. ~Pilson had called him regarding llfilson the village purchasing. approximately 7 lots located near Snelling and Hoyt. Matteson advised him that there were several questions the Council wished to discuss with him and asked if he would attend the next meeting of the Council. He was agreeable. It was decided that Mr. Krampton of the County Surveyoris office should also be asked to attend the next meeting. Steffnitz~ Petition Seaborn reported that Mr. Steffnitz had called him re- garding his petition for re-zoning. Matteson delegated Seaborn to advise Steffnitz that he should if possible i a appear at the next council meeting and should bring four copies of the petition, together with four copies of blue prints for the proposed re-zoning. e Street Ordinance and ~ Seaborn asked for an ordinance which would include.. ,a provisic~~t Tree Trimming Ordinance prohibiting the burning of refuse and grass in'the streets. He Requested also asked for an ordinance regarding the trimming of boulevard trees. It was thought that the trees on the boulevards might well be trimmed by the Village and the individual property assessed. Fire Appraisal Harry Anderson reported that the appraisers of the fire equipment had met and had arrived at a tentative figure of X22,256.38. Our share, 41~, would amount tv X9,125.12. Lauderdale Fire Fro- ~ Harry Anderson also reported that he had talked to Bronkala, tection Mayor of Lauderdale, regarding possible fire protection for Lauderdale. It was Anderson+s recommendation that the Village Council write a letter to Lauderdale Council setting forth the terms under which Falcon Heights would be agreeable to furnishing fire protection to Lauderdale. A motion was made by Shavor and seconded by ~,indig that the following resolution be adopted: $ffiOLVED, that the Mayor of Falcon Heights be and he hereby is instructed to write a letter to the Mayor of Lauderdale advising him that the Village of Falcon Heights Fire Department would sup- ply standby service to the Village of Lauderdale from July 1~ 1949 to June 30, 1950 for X75 a month, plus a charge for fire runs of X75 for the first hour and X50 for each additional hour, such amounts to be charged against the interest of the Village of Lauderdale in the split of the fire department equipment, with monthly statements to be submitted to the Village of Lauderdale by the Village of Falcon Heights, and the Fire Chief to have the same duties of fire inspection with respect to the Village of Lauderdale buildings as he has with respect to buildings in the Village of Falcon Heights under the Fire Department Ordinance #1. Motion carried. Semi-monthly salary Upon recommendation of Harry Anderson, Lindig moved, seconded by for Fire Chief and Asst. Shavor, that the Fire Chief and the Assistant Fire Chief be paid on a semimonthly basis. Motion carried. It was agreed that the salaries for the volunteer firemen be submitted on one voucher Ordinance #~ Frank Graham presented and~read Ordinance #!~ - "An Ordinance Li- censing and Regulating the Retail Sale of Cigarettes and Cigarette Wrappers.„ George Shavor moved the adoption of Ordinance #~.. The motion was seconded by Lindig and carried. Ordinance #5 Frank Graham presented and read Ordinance #5 - "An Ordinance Li- censing and Regulating the Sale and Consumption of Non-intoxicatin; Liquors.~~ Shavor moved the adoption of Ordinance #5. The motion was seconded by Lindig and carried. ~F Licenses in Fair Frank Graham was asked to obtain an opinion regarding the legality Grounds of the Village issuing beer and cigarette licenses to the Fair Grounds . w ;-~ Rejection of Electric Lindig moved the adoption of the following resolution: RESOLVED Bids. that the bids received covering the electric work for the proposed Village Hall and Fire Station be rejected and that the Clerk be and he hereby is directed to notify the bidders of this action. Motion seconded by Shavor and carried. 2 Bids for Electric work Again Advertised Shavor moved the adoption of the following resolution.
