Hermes Rezoning The special hearing shceduled for this meeting was called to Petition consider Rezoning Lots 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 1l~, 35, 36, 37, 38 Crossroads Addition. Mr. Nieman, Attorney, presented the petition signed by 29 of the adjacent property owners. Those appearing in favor of the petition were Mr. and Mrs. N. L. Hermes, 1501 ~. Larpenteur Wm. F. Lindig, 1681 W. Larpenteur John J. Haig, Hilltop Gardens Richard B. Haig, Hilltop Gardens Dean Gossaxd, Como Station, Route 12 No one appeared who was in oppostion to the petition. The council took the matter under advisement. Frank Graham sug- gested the Village join the County Planning Board and submit the petition to them for consideration and recommendation. Representatives on Matteson moved the-appoint of Shavor for 2 years and Reichow Ramsey County Planning for !~ years as the representatives from Falcon Heights on the Board appointed Ramsey County Planning Commission. Motion seconded by Lindig . and carried. Petitions referred Matteson moved, seconded by Lindig, that the petitions re- to Planning Board ceived from Stepnitz and Hermes be referred to the Ramsey County Planning Board for its recommendation. He further suggested that 5 or 6 duplexes be built along Arona facing Arona. This would leave two lots in back of the proposed duplexes open, In- asmuch as the council was considering purchasing land for use as a playground, it was the suggestion of Mr. Altman that the council purchase these two lots for that purpose. The purchase price was approximately X3,000. Matteson po.~ttted out .that the villager v~4,~- in n~ `pos~,iz~h-ate '~!,=t , ~~' chase the lots for a playground due to committments previously made. Altman asked for a postponement of the. hearing until Aug- . ust 2 to see..... if the people he represented could dispose of these two lots. Matteson pointed out the council wished to act on of ~~' 3 parcels and on the drainage and attempt to find a solution on~ the over-all and not try to settle them one at a time. Stepnit~,~~~ was agreeable to the extension of time. The hearing was postponed s to Tuesday evening, August 2, at 8:00 p. m. ': ~,,,~ / Plbing and Heating Buetow reported that certain changes were made in the plumbing ~ Bids reopened ~ and heating specifications. "It was Frank Grahams recommendation that the bids be reopened. Upon his recommendation, Shavor moved the adoption of the following resolution, seconded by Rys- gaard: RESOLVED, that the bids received covering the plumbing and heating work for the proposed village hall and fire station be rejected and that the deputy clerk be and he hereby is directed to notify the bidders of this action, and RESOLVED FURTHER, that the Deputy Clerk be and he hereby is authorized and directed to readvertise for bids for plumbing and heating for the combined village hall and fire station and that the bids be opened and considered at a meeting of the council to be held Tuesday, July 26, 1949 at 7:30 p.m. Motion carried. X13,950 (ck for X450) The council asked Harry Anderson and George Swanson to go over the bids and report back to the council with their recommendations. on Stepnitz The hearing on the petition filed by Mr. Stepnitz was continued. Continued. Stepnitz stated that he had met with Mr. Altman who had made cer- taro suggestions to him regarding the development of the property under question. He was willing to go along with the residents provided the drainage problem were once and for all taken care of. He had been asked to compromise to the extent of rezoning the property along Arona to residence B which would permit the build- ing of duplexes. IIpon motion by Rysga~.rd, seconded by Lindig, the following resolution was adopted. ~: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ISSUAidCE OF BONDS RESOLVED, by the Council of the Village of Falcon Heights, Minnesota, as follows: 1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN That the Council of the Villa ge of Faleon Heights, Minnesota, will meet at the old Rose Town Hall, Hemline and County Road B, on the 9th day of August, 1949, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. for the purpose of receiving, opening, considering and acting upon sealed bids for the purchase of Forty Thousand Dollars 040,000.00) of the bonds of said Village, said bonds being issued and sold for the purpose of constructing a combination Village Ball and Fire Station for the said Village. That the said bonds bear date the first day of September, 1949, be in denominations of One Thousand Dollars each, and bear interest at the rate specified by the successful bidder for said bonds, not exceeding, however, 4f per annum, payable semi-annually; that the said bonds shall mature serially on the first day of Sep- tember in each of the years and in the amounts following, to-wit: X1,000.00 in 1951 X1,000.00 in 1954 1:000.00 in 1952 1,000.00 in 1955 1,000.00 in 1953 3. Motion seconded by Lindig and caxri~ Wilson Property Matteson reported he had ta7.ked with Mr. Wilson. ~Pilson would now like to keep lot 13 and he asked if there would be any way the size of the turn-around on Iowa might b e reduced. Matteson further reported that VPilson would want cash payment for this land Batteson moved that Street Commissioner Seaborn check with the County Engineers office on a possible reduction in the amount of J" space for the turn-around at the proposed end of the extension of Iowa. Appraiser of town A mot on was made by Rysgaard and seconded by Shavor that Art hall appointed Lindig be appointed as appraiser to represent the Village of Falcon Heights in the appraisal of the town hall. Carried. Fire Protection Harry Anderson reported the Farmers Union was not agreeable "" Committee Report to our hooking on to their city water line. The water usEd for the cooling system would be available only in the summer and it is 80° whichrouould be too warm. Harry is t o contact them further regarding a possible hook-up. Recommendation on Harry Anderson is to bring in his recommendation on July 26 Hose and Truck due regarding the bids on the fire hose and pumper. July 26 Newman and Winterer Matteson moved that the council return the checks which checks returned accompanied the bids of Axel Newman and A. V. Winterer & - Son and the deputy clerk was so directed. Motion seconded by Rysgaard and carried. Survey of leased Shavor made a motion that the council request the County property from U. Engineers office to make a survey of the property being of Minn. leased from the University of Minnesota. Motion seconded by Rysgaard and carried..
