1. City Code Updates
Staff Liaison Myhren stated the code updates that were being presented have been
compiled from Planning Commission workshops over the past year or two. Currently she
is waiting to share these with City Council at a Council workshop to ensure they are
ultimately in agreement before scheduling a public hearing before the Planning
Commission for the changes to be considered.
Commissioners went through the proposed Code changes. It was agreed that the term
“boardinghouse” and section 113-5(f) regarding the relocation of a building or structure
could be removed from Code.
Staff Liaison Myhren also discussed the “expiration of PUD” section that previously had
been discussed and drafted to add to City Code. The City Attorney stated this cannot be
added due to how Falcon Heights treats PUDs as a new zoning district. This will need to
be looked at and addressed in the future to ensure PUDs that are not moving forward are
not preventing development from occurring.
Commissioners discussed Sec. 113-370(6) and proposed changing the 10’ setback for
boats and trailers in the rear yard to 5’. Other changes were proposed to be reasonable
and generally accepted for bringing before City Council review prior to scheduling a
Planning Commission public hearing.
