Rowley Frank Graham The meeting was called to order at 7:50 p.m. by Mayor Matteson. Minutes of previous meeting of August 22d, 1949 were read and approved.. No bills were presented for payment. Mayor Matteson read a suggested letter to eppompany Ordinance #6, to be forwarded to all residences of the village of Falcon heights, and ~vith a fewv suggested changes, it was agreed that this was a good idea. Bus Service Mr• Lodahl of 17`75 No. Pascal stated that the North Star Bus Lj.ne was considering a petition with the Railroad and Yarehouse Commission t o discontinue running out in this section on account of its not being profitable . Mr. Lodahl reported that the Twin Cities Bus Co• was willing and ready to make application to the Railroad and ;Varehouse Commission to run their bus to Lerpenteur, to Pas cal,to Rose lawn and than to Smelling returning to City Limits. Mr• Shavor read a letter re ceived from the Twin Cities Bus Co. stating their willingness to re- route to Falcon Heights. There was consid- arable objection to having the Twin Cities Line running their bus on Pas ca 1. John H . Binder of 1"164 No. Pascal, suggested run- ning the bus on Larpenteur to Hamline,. out Hemline to Garden and up Garden to Snelling. ~r~• Dachtera of 1"134 No. Pascal objected to running the bus on Pascal on account of the hill, and was of the opinion that there mi ~ht be possible chances for a c c~ - dents. B~r• Reilly of 1803 No. Pascal re- ported that he was in favor of the bus on Pascal. Geo. Ritter of 1'191 No. pascal reported he did not think the bus would be of any disadvantage so far as children were concerned. Vm. Olson of 1"l84 No. Pascal added no objection other than that the bus company might be limited to a certain speed limit. The answer was "noT from Attorney Graham, and that this was a matter to go throughthe Highway Depart- ment. Bill Si®gworth, 1'170 No. Pascal, stated that children would have to be 1 educated to be careful. Mayor Matteson brought out the suggested route of gnelling down ierpenteur to Pascal t o Rose lawn to Snelling. A show of hands, called for by Mayor ffidtteson, indicated a definite preference for the Pascal ave. route • The C ounci 1 will take the matter under advisement. In conclusion it was suggested that the matter of a low rate of speed for the bus " line be investigated by Attorney Graham, and Mr• Rysgaard was to see Mr• Fitzsimmons, Vice President of the Twin Cities Bus ~o. police Officers 7Vm. Utecht, representing Mr• Rechtiene, raised the question of time set up for Police Officers, and reported that Teen Agars were guilty mostly of going through stop signs, and so far up to this meet- ing, X100.00 has been taken in by the police in their patrolling. Mr• Graham reported that police officers have to be on hand when presenting their case in police court, and should. be paid accordingly. Mr. Utecht was of the opinion that the time allowed or set up as a maximum for the police officers was not sufficient and he be lieved that their time should be set up on a time basis • Henry Dachtera, alone, put in 39 hours, with a mileage of 294 miles. Rysgaard made motion ave raise hourly basis from a 30 hour maximum to 75 hours per week for police officers subject to approval of Public Saf®ty Committee as they deem it necessary to adequately serve the c©m- munity with police protection. Motion denied. It was the opinion of Art Lindig that the hours set up should be tried out for a little while longer" in order t o give it a fair trial, bringing out the fact that Fair ryeek no doubt called for more patrol- ling. Village Doctor Harry Anderson contacted Dr• Ausmann, and he is willing t o be known as ;Village Doctor and will check each fireman at the rate of X2.00 per man, there being 15 in all. Mayor Matteson moved that Dr • Ausmanri be authorized to make a physical examination of our 15 firemen at a cost of X2.00 each. Mayor Matteson presented two requests for rezoning by the University of Minnesota, dated August 30, 1949, covering property on Snelling southof Ho Ilywood Cart and on Larpenteur west of the proposed Village Hall and Fire Department. Mr. Lindig moved in accordance with Se ction 12 (e) of Ordinance #2 that the Council set Tuesday, September 2,'i, 1949, at 8:00 p.m. as the date for a public hearing regarding the rezoning, and that the Deputy Clerk be directed to post notices as required by the Ordinance • Motion seconded by Shavor. Motion carried. Sale of Bonds Ralph Van Hoven, Treasurer., reported that the Village Hall and Fire Station Bands and the Fire Equipment Bonds had been de livered to the purchaser and that cheeks for the proceeds thereof had been deposited. Mr• iaindig moved that the Treasurer be order- ed and directed to credit the proceeds from Village Hall and Fire Department Bonds to a new fund known as`d"Village Ball and Fire Station Construction Fund", and to credit the proceeds ~' the Fire Equipment Bonds t o the "Fire Equipment Fund" • Motion seconded by Rysgaard. Motion carried.
