McDonald, Ramsey County nurse, relative to special meeting to discuss procedures and regulations governing communicable diseases in Rural Ramsey County, to be held July 18, 1950, at 8:00 pm. It was voted to have Lindig attend. Letter of July 3 from Attorney Frank J. Hammond, together with Dopy of proposed North-Snelling-Falcon Heights bus servi ce. Letter of July 7, frpm Mr~~~.C. Ludwig, of the League of Minnesota Municipalities, regarding type of generator which is recommended by the National Board of Fire Underwriters for a portable light plant, the AC generator being recommended. Letter of July 12 from the Homelite Corporation, quoting prices of X295.00 each on two demonstrator Homelite Carryable Generator units, one AC and one DC. Shavor moved, seconded by Rekstad, that oommunicgtiona be~ filed. Carried. Portable light John Rysgaard presented report and recommendations of the plant, Fire Dept Fire Protection committee, dated July 8, as to purchase of salaries. a portable light plant and on adjustment of salari es of Fi ro Department paid personnel. Stewart moved that the report be accepted for discussion and consideration. Henry seconded and motion carried. Rekstad spoke in favor of a 115-volt D.C. portable Kohler light plant, of 1,500 watt capacity, stating if purchased by the Village and found unsatisfactory, he would take it and reimburse the village for same. Stewart reported on discussing the matter with the Northern States Power Company engineering staff, stating they used these units for lighting, operating motor driven tools, etc., and that they recommended the AC generator. Reported they had a number of Homelite AC plants and found them ve ry satisfactory because of their light weight and flexibility. Shavor stated if power tools are to be used they have universal motors on which AC or DC could be used. Also that the Kohler d.c. unit sells for $15?.50 while the Homelite demonstrator seta are priced at X295.00 each. Shavor also offered the opinion that the engine on the Kohler d.e. set was preferred because it was a 4-cydl• unit as To puchase compared with the 2-cycle Homelite AC. Kohler portable Rekstad then moved that the Village purchase a Kohler 115-volt li ght plant. d.c. portable light plant of 1,500 watt capacity, Model 1.5M5. Shavor seconded. Ayes: Henry, Shavor, Lindig and Rekstad. No: Stewart. The matter of salaries for paid personnel of the Fire Department salaries was then presented for consideration and dissuasion. Rekstad moved that the resolution adapted at a special meeting on Thursday, April 28, 1949, stating -the salary of George E. Swanson as Firo Chief be set at X250.00 per month, plus an allowanbe for the use of his car of X50.00 per month, with the understanding that $50.00 per month be deducted when he occupies quarters in the Fire Station, be repeale~iffective June 30, 1950, and that the salary of George Fire Chief's E. Swanson as Fire Chief, commencing July 1, 1950, be set at X300 salary - apt. per month as recommended by the Fire Protection committee, and rental. that his apartment rent of $50.00 per month be payable in advance on the first of each month sa recommended by the Public Examiner. Lindig seconded and motion carried unanimously. Yr. Swanson being present assured the council that he would have the rent up to date by Sept. 1, 1950. 1st Aast. Fi ro Salary of first assistant Fi re Chief, Harold Imhoff, was next Chief's salary considered. Lindig moved that salary of the first assistant Fire Chief be set at $235.00 per month. Stewart seoonded and motion adopted unanimously. July car allowance Following discussion of car allowances for the Fire Department, Fire Dept.offioers Henry moved that the Village pay the paid officers of the Fire Department 7~ per mile for the uee of their ears on Village business during the month of July. Rekstad seoonded. Carried unanimously. Status of property Stewart reported contacting George Membrez, Clerk of the Village division between of Roseville, as to proposed written agreement on division of Town of Rose and personal property which had been submitted to Roseville for Village of Roseville. signatures. Also reported it was agreed that liembrez would draw up proposed agreement covering division of real property. Stewart stated he would continue to follow up. University lease Van Hoven reported sending X15.00 check to the University, co ver- payment. Recreational ing one-year's payment on lease of lot secured from the University. program. Parking Also mentioned County recreational program meeting newspaper item, lot, Village hall. ,reporting attendance by representatives of all oommunities in the oounty excepting Falcon Heights. Van Hoven also brought up the question of having the County lay out what the Village wants as a Village Hall parking lot. After discussion, it was decided he should oonfer with Stan Seaborn on this.
