Meeting called to order at 7:50 pm. Minutes of regular meeting, July 25, and of
Board of Review meeting, July 25, approved as read.

Falcon Heights
Teen Agets Club Gayle Weiss, representing a teen age group appearing before the
council, reported that their club is organized under the name
of the Falcon Heights Teen Age'; Club, that cards will be issued
for ell members, and that they wished to use the Yillage Hall
monthly on the second and fourth Fridays from 7:30 pm to 11:15 pm
for their canteen and dancing. It was also reported that
arrangements had been made for chaperones and for a clean-up
committee, and that present office rs of the Falcon Heights Teen
Age Club would serve until permanent officers could b® elected
on August 25. It was also reported that Clarence Rekstad will
be the council member heading the Teen Agar's organization.
To have hall
gratis on Stewart then moved that the Falcon Heights Teen Age Club be
temporary basis. permitted to use the Yillage Hall on the exwaings desired on
a temporary basis without charge. Seconded by Rekstad and
motion adopted by unanimous vote.
Street plan,
Hemline, Holton, Lorris Williams, Planning Commission Chairman, appeared before
Garden, Roselawn the council in connection with the proposed street plan for
property along Hemline and Holton between Garden e¢~d Roselawn,
eapecislly as to securing engineering assistance for sketching
the proposed layout of streets. It was pointed out that the
proposal ties in with the School Board plan. After discussion,

Shavor moved that the Planning Commission be authorized to
proceed in preparing preliminary dimensional maps showing the
street layouts in the area bounded by Holton, Roselawn, Hemline
and Garden, and also in the E2, SFr4 of Sec. 16. Rekstad
seconded and motion carried unanimously.
Hall wanted Robert off. Lundbohm,.1441 W. Larpenteur, representing the Falcon
for square Heights Congregational Combined Men's Club and Service Club,
dancing. requested use of the Village Hall for square dances to be held
on the third Friday of each month from 8 pm. to 11 pm., beginning
in September and continuing thru May. Mr. Lundbohm explained that
their organisation is a fellowship group and non-profit organization.
He also stated that the dances would be limited to eight squares or
64 people. Before acting on Mr. Lundbohm's request, it was on
recommendation of Rekstad, decided to consult Architect Bue~ow as to
whether c onstruction of the building will withstand the vibration
of square danoing to this extent.
Private Harold Geroux, Patrol Service, 1827 Carl, Lauderdale, appeared
Patrol before the council as to hie proposal to provide patrol service
Service for Falcon Hei ghts. Said he had talked with the businessmen
and that they were in favor of some kind of protection and were
willing to assume part of its cost. Mr. Geroux stated his patrol
service could furnish ti-e village ei ght hours service a night,
seven nights a week, for X395.00 a month with radio and telephone
figured in. It was agreed to refer the matter to the Public
Safety Committee for consideration and report.
Traffic A. H. Strane, 1489 W. Idaho, said he was appearing in behalf of
problem, residents near the intersection of Aroma and west Idaho, about
Aroma & heavy motor traffic moving north and south on Aroma, especi~ lly
1f. Idaho. during shopping periods, and the need of protecting children by
putting up suitable traffio signs. R.J. O'Connell, 1522 ~1.
Idaho, also spoke in support of Strane's request. They were in-
formed that the Public Safety committee would be asked to in-
vestigats and make a recommendation.
Aroma allay Harry Dunham reported the County had furnished figures on the
improvement cost of improving the alle~between Idaho and California from.
Aroma to Pascal, and asked if the council would authorize the
interested property owners to make and pay for the proposed
imp rovement themselves according to specifications that would
be satisfactory to our street commissioner. Attorney Graham
will check and advise.
Alley improve- E. J. Kane, 1482 W. Idaho, said he represented about 60 per
ment, Idaho- cent of the property owners on the south side of Idaho and
Iowa. north side of Iowa. Bgr. Kane asked if the Village is responsible
for upkeep of the alleys the same as the streets, oP if alley
improvements are to be taken care of by special assessment against
the benefited property owners. The question was referred to
our attorney for checking.
Village maps After discussion, Shavor moved that Lorris Williams, Planning
Commission chairman, be authorized to purchase two sets of maps
of 'the Village, one set for the use of the Village council, and
one for use of the Street Commissioner. Seconded by Henry and
carried unanimously.

J'xrgenson's Building Inspector Reichow reported on contacting the owner
tar paper of the tar paper shack oa north Albert. The owner, he said,
shack was not sure whether he would try to maintain the building or
tear it down. Told Reichow he is conside ring putting on siding
and painting to make the structure more presentable.

Letter of August 4 from Attorney Graham re private fire
contracts.
Sheriff Gibbons letter relative to Civil Defense meeting
at Hamm's Brewery, August 15.
Treasurer's Yan Hovers reported that payment should be made August 15,
report covering interest on $10,000 tax anticipation certificate
of indebtedness from February 15. Also that when the
County road bill for period June 26 to July 25, and the next
tax settlement are received, possibly within the next few
weeks, that he will bring the 1951 budget figures up t~ate.
Stating that the Village must oertify its financial ne s
for 1951 early in October, he suggested that eaoh department
should submit its 1951 budget needs to the council on or be-
fore the first meeting of the council in September.
Election 3udges The clerk brogght up the matter of appointing election 3udges
and clerks. and clerks for the Primary, September 12. Henry moved, seconded
by HhaAp; that the following be appointed:

Motion carried by unanimous vote and said candidates declared
duly appointed to office.
Exit signs, Fire Chief Swanson oalled attention to exit signs whidi are
uncompleted needed but not as yet installed at the Fire Station, stating
work on build- these should be on a separate ci rcuit so if other lights go
ing, etc. out the exit lights should stay on. Swanson also reported on
a number of things in canneotion with the building that should
be taken Dare of, such as, tar coming off roof and dropping
on floor, leaks thru roof, windows need caulking, cracked
plaster in living quarters, rubbing down walls, adjusting
doors, oaulking oracks in building, etc. Swanson also
submitted copy of rules and regulations for the Falcon Heights
Fire department. The clerk was requested to advise John
Rysgaard about building matters that should be taken care of.
Greetings Van Hovers inquired as to the council writing a letter to
to Harry Harry Anderson who is still in the hospital. Henry moved,
. Anderson seconded by Shavor, that the clerk write a letter to Anderson,
expressing greetings from the council and their boat wishes
for his recovery. Motion carried unanimously.
