Village Finaneil statement, and direct the clerk to keep a copy on
file for public inspection, together with a copy of the Treasurer's
report, and that the clerk be authorized to have the statement
published in the Rose Tribune of February 1, 1951, if the cost of
such publication does not exceed X65.00. Unanimously carried.
University
Land purchase. Lynn Matteson appeared before the Council to report on negotiations
wi th the University as to purchase of the land occupied by the
Village Ball and Fire Station. After discussion, Lindig moved that
Matteson be authorized to proceed on the basis that a thi rd appraiser
be appointed. by appraisers for the Village and appraisers for the
University, with the understanding them the appraisal of the appointee
will not be binding on either tre Village or the University. Seconded
by Stewart and carried by unanimous vote.
Fire and for the Village Hall and Fire Station was discussed and premium costs

Meeting walled to order at ?:50 PM and minutes oP regular meeting,
Jan. 2S, and of special meeting, Jan. 28, 1951, approved as read.
Proposed For the area bounded by Fairview, Cleveland, Larpenteur and Roselawn,
Street was disaussed with the Counail by Lorris Williams and C. K. Otis, of
Plan the Planning Commission. It was agreed th at after the plans are
completed, the affected property owners will be asked to attend a
meeting of the Council for an informal disoussion of the proposed
street plan.

Rekstad moved payment of bills, seconded by Shavor. So ordered.
Justice of In the amount of $500 for a period of 2 years effective-January 1,
the Peace, 1951, total premium, $9.25, was considered. Rekstad moved
Lloyd Riley, approval oP said bond and payme:rt of premium. Shavor seconded and
Bond. motion carried unanimously.
Civilian Mayor Henry reported on appointments of George Gustafson to head
Defense the Village Civilian Defense organization, and of William Olson
appointments as Mr. Gustafson's assistant.
Additional .The clerk reported need oP additional bank checks, and on
Bank checks motion by Lindig, accord ed by Henry, was ahthorized to have
1,000 additional ah ecks printed for the Village. Seconded by
Henry and carried unanimously.
Treasurer's The clerk read a note Prom Treasurer van Hoven, comparing liquor
report tea end cigarette tea apportionments with the previous six-month
period, showing an increase of $1,000 for both apportionments><3uat reo'd.
Forms aril information from the Public Examiner were also mentioned
in making request Por an audit if desired.
Juhl re Henry stated he had report from Street commissioner Seaborn as to
extending receipt of a lette r from Mr. Juhl about extending Simpson Avenue
Simpson Ave. Prom Ruggles to Roselawn with assursaoe that Yr. Juhl would pay
for brin~figg the proposed extension up to proper grade.
Civilian Defense Mayor Henry also advised as to report from Publio Safety Committee
police school Chairman Don Arndt as to attendance at Ramsey County auxiliary
police school for Civilian Defense.
