Meeting called to order at 7:40 PM. Minutes of regular meeting,
February 13, 1951, and of special. meeting, February 24, 1951, were approved as
read.

Rekstad moved payment of bills, seconded by Henry, and carried

land purchase Village and appraisers for the Universit y endeavoring to reach
Prom University. agreement on appointment of an appraisal firm satisfactory to
both parties.

Improvement Village with respect to improving streets.

Deluge Arrival of the deluge nozzle and spanner wrenches fvom Halprin
noszle Supply Company, of Los Angeles, was reported by the clerk, the
nozzle being sent with the understanding that it could be returned
to Halprin Supply Company for credit if our Fire Department finds
it unsatisfactory.
Police John Rysgsard, 1744 N. Pascal; Kenneth P. Hanson, 1483 ~1. California;
Protection i~.L. Nofsker, 1729 N. Snelling, and Joseph Rechtiene, 1498 W. Iowa,
requested. appeared bef ore the council and requested inf ormation as to what
was being done to provide additional police protection. Public
Safety Committee Chairman., Don Arndt, informed them as to the
sheriff's request for additional deputies, ami how this, if granted,
would. benefit our Village. It was also pointed out that arc lights
have been ordered for dark areas in the Village.

Taxi Cab Arthur M. Olson, 4112 Banfil Street, St Paul, appeared beBore the
Servioe council in oonneotion with his application to provide a taxi cab
service within the Yillage area bordered by Rot-elawn, Hamline and
Fairview. After disoussion, the matter, including a proposed
ordinance, was referred to Attorney Graham.
Licensing A proposed licensing ordinance was discussed, especially with
Ordinance reference to bowling alleys, root beer stands, sale of Christmas
proposed. trees, dry cleaning establishments, pop corn wagons and carnivals.
The clerk will try to secure copies oP licensing ordinances oover-
ing the above from nearby villages.
Fire Fire equipment items requested by the Fire Chief under date oP
Equipment January 3, 1951, was discussed. On motion by Stewart, seconded by
Henry, the Fire Chief was authorized to purchase the following
items on the list - 1 Chemox gas mask, 2 hand saws, 2 blanket. rolls,
1 battering ram, 2 20-ft. log chains, 1 sledge hammer, 2 fire blankets,
1 first aid kit, 3 24" squeegees, 400 ft. 3~4" rope, 2 short-handled
shovels, 4 sprinkler ahut-offs, 2 mops. Possibility of securing a
filing cabinet for the Fire Department was also discussed.
