The Village Assessor presented the pezrsonal pr'~perty book and assessments therein were reviewed by the Board. One valuation was questioned and a correction of same was requested for next year. Because the Village Assessor's real estate book was not ready for review, the Board voted to reoess the meeting-until the evening of July 10, 1951. sub3eet to further postponement if necessary. J. Coohrane, 1589 Hollywood Court, and a number of other props ~y owners in Hollywood Court again appeared before the Counoil in con- nection with maintenance of alleys in their area and correction of road. Mr. Cochrane presented a blue print showing road work to be done in Hollywood Court had been approved by Town Board, Town of Rose, June 17, 1938, approved by Harry Bronson and W.H. Fallon, Chairman of County Board, June 20 , 1938. Contention is that the work was never completed so the County will be contacted to see if they will finish the 3o.b. Also the matter of a street light in Hollywood Street Court was proposed. Property owners from the area, who were presant, light. agreed this should be installed at the extreme west end of the street in Hollywood Court. Henry so moved, seconded by Lindig and motion carried by unanimous vote. Root Bear Application of Otto R. Gralter for a license to operate a Root Beer Stand lioense stand at the northwest corner of Larpenteur and Snelling Avenues was again considered. Stewart moved that said application be approved, seconded by Rekstad and carried unanimously. Minatitre Golf Application of Jemies D. Holton to operate a Minature Golf Course Course license near Larpenteur and Snelling for period not exceeding six months, beginning July 1, 1951, was also considered. Rekstad moved approval, seconded by Lindig, and carried unanimously. Boards for The Fire Chief reported receiving delivery of the new boards for posting notices posting notices. It was agreed to place one on the northwest corner of Fairview and Larpenteur, and the other in the northeast corner of the Gibbs School yard at Cleveland and Larpenteur. Lindig will arrange . Report hydrant On recommendation of the Fire Chief, it was agreed that statement use to Fire be included in building permits that fYre hydrants may not be used Chief for construction purposes unless prior notification is given the Fire Chief. Jumbo nozzle The Fire Chief reported that a 3unior size deluge nozzle had been instead Deluge tried out and that it appeared there was insufficient water in the set main for successful deluge nozzle operation. The Chief reoommended purchase of another Jumbo mystery nozzle instead of a deluge- set. Working Chief Swanson reported that under the new working schedule the Schedule hours of the two paid assistants had been reduced to 56 per week and that the Chief's hours had been increased to 80 per week. U signs, The Fire Chief recommended that two "No U Turn" signs be installed Fire Station in front of the Fire Station. It was agreed to have the Street Commissioner talae up the question with the County Engineer. I s I L~~~ Barthel Fire Chief Swanson stated that a former volunteer fireman, for paid Kenneth Barthel, had applied for the paid main vacancy on the Fire vacancy Department and that he was considered qualify ed fbr the position. Said Barthel is n single man and would also become a sleeper. Raincoats, In order to have a full set of personal equipment, Swanson recommended boots, purchase of an additional four raincoats, four pairs of boots and helmets four helmets. Voting The Clerk reported that in contactin g the Minneapolis Election Bureau Booths re purchasing of voting booths, that they were unable to quote price at this time, but offered to loan booths to the Village when needed. Trash Needed For the Larpenteur-Snelling business area were again discussed. Cans Rekstad moved that four Solar System waste disposal cans, ~DNi 130,16 x 26$ x 34-3~8, at $22.40 each, be pu rehased. Seconded by Stewart and carried by unanimous vote. Claim The al erk called attention to an item under ndw state legislation, forms in the May, 1951 issue of Minnesota Municipalities magazine, as Follows: "Requiring t3~at claims be verified is supplanted by a requirement that a declaration be made under penalties of perjury but without the use of an oath." As a matter of economy, the clerk was di reeted to use up the present supply of verified account Forms, numbering about 800, before ordering the new claim form. University Letter of July 6 from Attorney Graham, relative to submission oP Lease appraisal to Board of Regents, was read. University Attorney Graham spoke regarding letter of May 25, 1951, from Mr. Lease - Middlebrook with respect to the University Lease matter. Also on University letter regarding the University Grove East garbage situation, Grove East signed by Trustee Lindig and addressed to Mr. Frank Pearce, Director garbage of Housing, University of Minnesota. Playground Rekstad reported lowest figure he had secured on saving 1,600 yards Improvement of dirt was $470.00, or about 30d a yard. When ready for sodding, he will Dell for volunteers to take care of this part of the Sob. It was agreed that Rekstad should notify the Mayor when ready to go ahead with the work so that asp eci al meeting may be cal led to authorize same. Tatum Jerry Roeh, 1791 Tatum, and a large number of other property owners residents on Tatum Street, appeared before the Council to protest a reported protest request to move end old St Paul house onto s lot in their area. Building Inspector Reichow reported receiving a phone call concern- ing su ch a request, but stated no formal application for permit had been made as yet. After full discussion, it was agreed that Build- ing Inspector Reichow would suggest to the owner of the old house in question that the matter be discussed with Mr. Roch and other Tatum Street property owners before making application for permit. 1Needs A.J. Stru ck, 1805 Tatum, inquired as to bettering control of weeds in his neighborhood and was referred to ~1eed Commissioner Postema. Street light Request was also made for a street light in the Tatum area, and after discussion, was referred to Street Commissioner Seaborn. Building Building Inspector Reichow presented request Prom D.A. Nelson permit Construction, Inc., for a double dwelling to be located on the ~- of Lot 13 and all oP Lot 14, in Block 9, Falcon Heights Addition. On motion by Rekstad, seconded by Shavor, it was voted unanimously to grant said permit. Fire Dept. Chief Swanson reported that as authorized the order for two laundry tubs had been placed. 1 1 Gordon Nelson Letter was read from Fire Chief Swnnaon, reporting that at a regular elected to meeting of the Falcon Heights Firemen's Association, July 17, 1951, Fire Dept. it was voted to have Gordon Nelson sot as representative of the Committee volunteer firemen on the Fire Dep artment Committee.
