Barthel Fire Chief Swanson stated that a former volunteer fireman,
for paid Kenneth Barthel, had applied for the paid main vacancy on the Fire
vacancy Department and that he was considered qualified fbr the position.
Said Barthel is a single man and would also become a sleeper.
Raincoats, In order to have a full set of personal equipment, Swanson recommended
boots, purchase of an additional four raincoats, four pairs of boots and
helmeta four helmeta.
Voting The Clerk reported that in contacting the Minneapolis Election Bureau
Booths re purchasing of voting booths, that they were unable to quote price
at this time, but offered to loan booths to the village when needed.
Trash Needed for the Larpenteur-Snelling business area were again discussed.
Cans Rekstad moved that four Solar System waste disposal cans, ~DYIt 130,16
~ 26g x 34-3~8, at X22.40 each, be pu rehased. Seconded by Stewart
and carried by unanimous vote.
Claim The c1 erk called attention to an item under new state legislation,
forms in the May, 1951 issue of Mirsnesota Municipalities magazine, as
Follows: "Requiring taoat claims be verified is supplanted by a
requirement that a declaration be made under penalties of per3ury
but vrithout the use of an oath." As a matter of economy, the clerk
was di reeted to use up the present supply of verified account forms,
numbering about 800, before ordering the new claim fb rm.
University Letter of July 6 from Attorney Graham, relative to submission of
Lease appraisal to Board of Regents, was read.

On motion by Rekstad, seconded by Shavor, the bills were ordered paid.
University Attorney Graham spoke regarding letter of May 25, 1951, from Mr.
Lease - Middlebrook .with r expect to the University Lease matter. dlso on
University letter regarding the University Grove East garbage situation,
Grove East signed by Trustee Lindig and addressed to Mr. Frank Pearae, Director
garbage of Housing, University of Minnesota.
Playground Rekstad reported lowest figure he had secured on moving 1,600 yards
Improvement of dirt was $470.00, or about 30d a yard. When ready for sodding,
he will Dell for volunteers to take care of this part of the fob.
It was agreed that Rekstad should notify the Mayor when ready to go
ahead with the work so that asp eci al meeting may be cal led to
authorize same.
Tatum Jerry Roeh, 1791 Tatum, and a large number of other property owners
residents on Tatum Street, appeared before the Council to protest a reported
protest request to move and old St Paul house onto a lot in their area.
Building Inspector Reichow reported receiving a phone call ooncern-
ing su ch a request, but stated no formal application for permit had
been made as yet. After full discussion, it was agreed that Build-
ing Inspector Reichow would suggest to the owner of the old house in
question that the matter be discussed with Mr. Roch and other Tatum
Street p roperty awners before making application for permit.
Weeds A.J. Stru ck, 1805 Tatum, inquired as to bettering control of weeds
in his neighborhood and was referred to Weed Commissioner Postema.
Street light Request was also made for a street lig ht in the Tatum area, and
after discussion, was referred to Street Commissioner Seaborn.
Building Building Inspector Reichow presented request from D.g. Nelson
permit Construction, Inc., for a double dwelling to be located on the
of Lot 13 and all of Lot 14, in Block 9, Falcon Heights Addition.
On motion by Rekstad, seconded by Shavor, it was voted unanimously
to grant said permit.
Fire Dept. Chief Swanson reported that as authorized the order for two laundry
tubs had been placed.

Gordon Nelson Letter was read from Fire Chief Swanson, reporting that at a regular
elected to meeting of the Falcon Heights Firemen's Association, July 17, 1951,
Fire Dept. it was voted to have Gordon Nelson act as representative of the
Committee volunteer firemen on the Fire Dep artment Committee.

.Rain coats, Matter of providing additional rain coats, boots and helmets,
boots, including four sets of each, so as to have complete equipment
helmets in this respect for volunteers, was again discussed. Rekstad
moved approval of purchase with the understanding that the Firo
Chief clear with the Clerk before planing the order. Seconded by
Stewart and carried unanimously.
Deluge Fire Chief Swanson's letter of July 16, 1951, was rend, relative to
nozzle trying out a junior size deluge nozzle with unsatisfactory results
except with the smallest tip (1-3~8").
Insurance The Clerk advised that the Mercury Insurance Company wished to
Policy, 1947 replace policy No. 470-05-425, oovering 194? Ward La France fire
hard La Franc truck with policy No. No. 470-08-719, at a reduced premium of
fire truck - X130.66 based on replaoemer~t costs, with the understanci~hat if
refund neceptable to the Council, a refund in premium costs of X35.05
would be made to the Village. On motion by Rekstad, seconded by
Henry, it was voted unanimously to accept the substitute policy
and refund.
Imhoff Letter from Harold Imhoff, offering his resignation as assistant
resigns fire chief, effective July 15, 1951, was read. Rekstad moved
acceptance oP Imhoff's resignation, seoonded by Henry and carried
unanimously.
Purohase ' Disoussion was held on proposed requisition forms furnished by
requisitions the Public Examiner's office covering purchases. The clerk was
directed to ch eck the minutes to see what p revious action, i f any,
had been taken with respect to limiting monthly purchases of the
Fire Chi ef..
Drainage Letter from Albert J. Helbig, 1547 West Idaho, relative to water
on the back of his lot, was read.
Falcon Heights With respect to correcting condi tions at the Falcon Heights Dry
Dry Cleaners Cleaners,-it was agreed to have Attorney Graham follow this matter
up through the State Fire Marshal's office and to report back at
the next meeting.
Boulevard The matter of uprooted and damaged boulevard trees due to the recent
trees storm, waa discussed and referred to Street Commissioner Seaborn.
Roseville Letter from B.H. Hammersten, Clerk, Village of Roseville, regarding
delivers fence posts due in connection with division of property of the former
fence posts. Town of Rose, was read. Stewart reported that the fence posts,
numbering 87, were delivered to the Village Hall shortly after
receipt of Hauunersten's letter, thus completing the division of
jointly owned property.
