Helmets, The clerk reported lowest bid on purchase of 4 firemen's rubber coats,
rubber 4 pair firemen's boots and 4 helmets was X165.00, received from the
coats & U.S. Rubber Company, and that order had been placed with lowest bidder
boots. as authorized by the Council.
Ramsey County Letter from the Ramsey County Surveyors Association was read, relative
Surveyor's to meeting with our Planning Commission to discuss platting problems.
Association Henry moved referral of the letter to our Planning Commission.
Seconded by Shavor and carried.
D.A. Nelson Discussion was held with D. ~. Nelson, of the D.A. Nelson Construction
Construction, Company, relat ive to construction of three two-Pamily bungalows on
Inc. - 3 - Arona between Idaho and Larpenteur. It was recommended to Mr. Nelson
two family that he initiate a rezoning petition and try to secure atg:hat~ates of
at least 50 per cant of the property owners within 500 Peet.

Meeting was called to order at 7:40 P.M. for the purpose of
discussing Fire Department matters with Fire Chine Swanson and with Andrew
Hustrulid, Chairman, and Gordon Nelson of the Fire Department Committee.
Fire Chief Swnnson's letters of May 5 and June 4, 1951, were
read with reference to wage ad3ustments and to furnishing the Fire Chief, as part
of his compensntion, living quarters fully electrified.
After considerable discussion, Stewart moved that the question
of the Fire Chief's salary be referred to the Firo Departanent Committee for con-
sideration from the standpoint of what the latest Fire Department salary figures
are in comparable communities, the rental value of his apartment, or anything
that may be worth while in helping the Council to reach a proper decision.
Seeonied by Henry and carried unanimously.
