Minutes of regular meeting, October 9, 1951, of Board of Review meeting,
October 9, 1951, and oP postponed meeting, October 23, 1951, were heard
and approved as read.
Fire Dept. After discusaimn, Henry moved, seconded by Shavor, that question
purchases regarding Fire Department purchases be referred tc the Fire Department
committee for recommendation.
Dry Messrs. R. J. atenberg, 1540 Caaw!®rd; F. B. Spindler, 1532
Cleaners Orawford, and 13. G. Grant, 1546 Cranford, appeared in ooanection
with drainage problems in the alley in the rear of the Falcon

Dry Cleaners Heights dry cleaners. They were advised as to request on
(cont'd). the County Surveyor to check alley conditions and to make
recommendations as to whet should be done. It was agreed
that in the meantime holes in the alley should be filled
with crushed rock or gravel.
Bills: On motion by Shavor, seconded by Lindig, the following

9-ear garage Harold Bershow and Attorney Finkelstein, represen ting the
permit approved Miles Lumber company, appeared before the Council in connection
with securing permit to build #+sg-a 9-car garage with 4-foot
setback, at 1510 west Larpenteur. After discussi®n, they
agreed to withdraw their request and asked to build the
garage in conformity with the building code's 6-foot aet-
baek requirement. Shavor then moved that the application
of Arthur Franz for permit as amended to erect a 9-car
garage at the rear of 1510 hest Larpenteur be granted.
Seconded by Stewart and carried unanimously.
Sauers Construction R. K. Dougan, Hngineer, and R. J. Breckenridge, Treasurer,
Co. re permit of the Sauers Constru etion Company, asked to be heard with
violation regard to building code violati on by their Company at 1552
west Larpenteur. It did not occur to them, they sai d, that
a permit was needed on such s small Sob, that upon learning
differently, they tried fer a couple of days to contact the
building inspector. When red tag was placed, the store front
had been torn out and since it involved a safety problem,
they completed the wo rk. After some discussion, Shavor
moved that explanation of the Sauers Construction Company as
to building oo de violation in connection with alteration on
Applebaum Store• entrance be accepted, with the understanding
that any future fobs performed by this Company be handled in
strict conformity with the building code, and that the build-
ing inspector be authorized to issue a building permit to
cover this Sob. Seconded by Stewart and carried unanimously.
Notify Lindig then moved, seconded by Henry, that w.r~. Stepnitz,
Stepnitz of Associated Investors, Inc., be notified that the building
code planes the responsibility for obtaining a building permit
upon the owner of the property involved, and while it is
permissible for his agent to obtain such a permit that failure
of either the owner or agent tv ®btain a permit is a violation
by the owner for ~ieh the owner can be held for violation cf
tha node. Carried by unanimous vote.

Permit, 2 Building Inspector Reichow presented application for two
add'1. rms. additional rooms to be added to the Falcon Heights School,
Falcon Hts Independent School district No. 3. Henry moved granting
school of permit, seconded by Lindig, and carried unanimously.
Plat - Juhl's Rose- Mr. Juhl appeared before the Council to request approval of
lawn Addition No. 3 the plat of Juhls Roselawn Addition No. 3. His letter of
approved. October 23, regarding deed restrictions, was read. After
discussion, Stewart moved, seconded by Lindig, that the
proposed plat of 3nh~'s Roselawn Addition No. 3 as modified
by deed restrictions, as outlined in Mr. Juhl's letter of
October 23, 1951, be deemed as substantially meeting require-
ments of our platting regulations and that the plat be and
it hereby is approved. Carried unanimously.
Street Building Inspector Reichow asked that the matter of setting
numbers up system for issuing street numbers to new buildings be
referred to the Planning Commission.
Final personal Statement co vexing proposed division of personal property
property settle- with the Pillage of Lauderdale, was presented. On motion
merit with Lauder- by Lindig, seconded by Henry, it was unanimously voted to
dale. pay Lauderdale 24.9 of 4406.94, total value, or $101.33
as final settlement.
Street lights, The Clerk said the Northeztn States Power Company had re-

Post Office After discussion, Lindig moved that letters be written to
Mr. Thatcher, of the Farmers IIni®n Grain Termi~l Associatimn;
to Congressman Eugene McCarthy, and to Postmaster Pan Dyke,
thanking them for their support in connection with locating
s branch post office in Falcon Heights. Seconded by Henry
and carried unanimously.
1952 budget Treasurer Van Ho ven submitted the Tregaueer's 1952 budget
estimate estimate for aonsid eraticn and discussion.
