Recess No one else wishing to b e heard, the meeting was then recessed
at 8:50 P.M.
Reconvene Meeting reconvened at 9:30 P.M.
Dry well As to dry wells on Village property; Rekstad stated that the
on Village Contractor had started work on one of the wells and that he had
property gone down 16 feet and was still in sand. After di soussion,
it was proposed that the contraotor limit the work to one well,
digging it to a depth satisfactory to the building inspector.
Storm water, Seaborn reported on storm water and culvert trouble at Ruggles
Ru~~les & and Simpson. After discussion, Henry moved that Commissioner
Simpson Seaborn be authorized to have the County install a catch basin
at Ruggles and Simpson if necessary to control storm water.
Lindig seconded and motion carried unanimously.
Alley behind Lindig reported th at Attorney John Bouthilet, representing Douglas
Rees property Rees, had called on him March 6, 1952, as to proposal for surfaoing
the alley behind the Rees property and installing a catch basin,
if the Pillage agrees to bear part of the cost.

Meeting called to order at 7:35 P.M. Minutes of regular meeting,
February 27, 1952, of special meeting, March 3, 1952, and of special
meet in g, March 6, 1952, were heard and approved as read.

Fire Dept. Chairman Andrew Hustrulid reported on the following Fire Department
Committee matters: -

Proposed (1) Fire Chief'9weinson's request for an amendment to Ordinance No. 1,
Fire Dept. making it mandatory to report to the Fire Department any fire
Ordinance involving loss by fire of X25.00 or more, whether the Fire Depart-
amendment went is called to the scene of- the fire or not.
(2) Recommendation of the Fire Department committee that Fire
Fire Department equipment items listed in the Fire Chief's letter
equipment of March 11, 1952, be purchased. Chairman Hustrulid pointed
out that these items had been provided for in the 1952 budget.
Repair (3) Recommendation of committee that repairs be made t o living quarters
Fire Chief's of Fire Chief made necessary by re-occurrence of cracks in walls
apt. and ceilings.
Purchase (4) Recommen dati on that the cou ncil set a maximum amount that the
authority Fire Chief may spend for Fire Department purchases.

Dry wells Rekstad reported that the two dry wells on Village property, Snelling
Village and Idaho, had been completed by Contractor Harold roller and were
property functioning very satisfactorily in taking Dare of flood water. He said
it was necessary to dig each well to a depth of about 24 feet in order
to be down five feet into boulders.
Ealy G. Consulting Engineer, of St Paul, appeared before the Council in
Briggs con;nectimg with engineering services provid ed by his firm, referring
esp~9eially to their recent installation of a sanitary sewer system
in 'the Village of Lauderdale.
Allays In connection with petitions for improving (1) the alley between Iowa
and Idaho from Ham~ine to Albert (2) the alley between Hoyt and Iowa
frrnn Pascal to Arona (3($ the alley between California and Lela~aenteur
from Pascal to Arona (4) alley between Calif ornia and Idaho from
Albert to Pascal. It was agreed to have Commissioner Seaborn ask
M.1N. Carley to check said alleys and to recommend type of surfacing
with estimates of cost, the Mayor to call an informal meeting with
the property owners on each alley when Mr. Carley's report is received
to see if agreement can be reached as to type of work to be done before
giving notice of public hearing and preparing plans and specifications
for these pro3ects.

Posting As to posting of Village streets against heavy loads during soft
roads road conditions; Attorney Graham was asked to cheek the statute
as to the Council's authority in this regard.
Street Bill from Ramsey County for $324.09, for street work Jan. 26 to
bill February 25, 1952, and payable from 1952 allotment (2,210.13)
was presented to the c ouneil with approval of items listed thereon
by Street Commissioner Seaborn.
Weed In connection with formal notice of appointment form received from
Inspector the IIniversity farm, covering appointment and compensation of
Village Weed Inspeotor - The Council having previously appointed
Dirk Postema for 1952, Rekstad moved, seconded by Lindig, that the
Weed Inspector's compensation be fixed at X2.00 an hour. Carried
unanimously.
Hall for Ddayor Henry reported receiving request from the Ramsey County
Rep~bliean Republican committee to use the Village Hall for Republican caucas
caucas March 31, 1952. On motion by Rekstad, seconded by Lindig, it was
voted to provide free use of the Hall for this purpose.
Hall for It was then moved by Lindig, seconded by Rekstad, that the Mayor
Democrat also be authorised to provide free use of the Pillage Hall if he
caucas received a similar request from the Democratic-Farmer-Labor
committee.
Scarlet Health Officer Lindig reported placing of a scarlet fever placard
fever dated Marsh 11, 1952, on the residence of Donald H. Hebb, 1770
Arona.
Civilian The Clerk reported that Alton Christenson, 1426 Calif ornia bvenue
Defense West, has indie ated his services and those of other amateur radio
operators in this area are available for Civilian Defense.
